Well, I think I found a recording of the song here (click), but I'm not familiar with it. At least that's a start, I guess.

Me and brother Bill went hunting up in the woods of eastern Maine
The reason why we went up there was to catch some game
Brother bill and I went hunting One dark and stormy night
I shot at something I thought was a bear but the dog-gone thing turned white

Oh I dropped my gun
And away I run
Brother Bill said boy what's the matter with you
Had he knowed like me he'd a run some too
I ran so hard they say
They couldn't catch me all day
The way I ran across that field
They couldn't catch me with an automobile.

This is how my grandfather taught it to me. I've been looking for the complete lyrics for a while. If anybody's knows please let me know.

Me and Brother Bill went a-huntin'
Way up in the woods of northern Maine.
The reason why we went up there,
Cause we hoped to catch some game

Me and Brother Bill went a-huntin'
Way up in the middle of the night
We shot a something like a grizzly bear
And the gosh darn thing turned white

Well I dropped my gun and away I run
Brother Bill said what's the matter with you
But had he knowed what I seen
He'd a run some too

I ran so fast and I ran so far
They say they couldn't catch me all day
Well I run so hard across field
They say they couldn't catch me with an automobile

I run 'till I was exhausted
And my feet were draggin' on the ground
But I says to me feet don't you fail me now
'Cause we're Alabami bound.

My dad had it.....

Me and brother Bill went hunting
Up in the state of Maine
The reason why we went up there
We thought we could get some game

That night while we were hunting
Way in the middle of the night
I saw something looked like a grizzly bear
Then the doggone thing turned white

Oh, I dropped my gun and away I run
Brother Bill said, "Boy, what's the matter with you?"
If you knew like me you'd run some too
I ran so fast they say
You couldn't catch me all day
I ran so fast across the field
You couldn't catch me with an automobile

ME AND BROTHER BILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember my grandmother laughing as she sang:

Me and brother Bill went hunting, way up in the woods of eastern Maine.
The reason why we went up there we thought we'd catch some game.
And as we were a-hunting, way in the middle of the night,
I seen a great big grizzly bear, and the doggone thing turned white!
I run so fast they say,
that they couldn't catch me all day!
The way I run across that field
you couldn't catch me with an automobile!!!

I believe this was the first recording of this song. You can hear it at YouTube.

ME AND BROTHER BILL
Words and music by Louis Armstrong
As recorded by Louis Armstrong and His Orchestra, 1939.

Me and brother Bill went huntin’, way in the east of Maine.
The reason why we went out there, we thought we could catch some game.
As we were a-huntin’, way in the middle of the night,
We shot at somethin’ looked like a grizzly bear, and the doggone thing turned white!

I said to my brother: “Come on and let’s go home.”
He said: “If you goin’ to the house, you have to go alone.”
Now, as we were a-huntin’, it commenced to risen up high.
I looked toward my house, and I didn’t even say goodbye.

I dropped that gun
And away I run.
Brother Bill said: “Boy, what’s the matter with you?”
Had he known like me, he would ’a’ run some, too.
I run so fast they say
Till you couldn’t catch me all day.
Now the way I run across that field,
Oh, you couldn’t catch me with a automobile.

Brother Bill got so excited, he commenced to shootin’ at me.
I heard those bullets sizzlin’ all among those trees.
I was runnin’ so fast that night, till my feet was draggin’ the ground.
I hear a little jaybird in the tree sing: “He’s Alabama Bound.”

I run past my house and I didn’t have time to knock.
I passed right by a good crap game and I didn’t have time to stop.
I passed right by a gin mill, and I stopped in to get a little gin,
And I didn’t have a dime to pay for it, and I had to start runnin’ again.

I’m goin' home.
I’m all alone.
Brother Bill said: “Boy, what’s the matter with you?”
Had he known like me, he would ’a’ run some, too.
I run so fast they say
Till you couldn’t catch me all day.
Now, the way I run across that field,
[scat phrase] Oh, you couldn’t catch me,
You couldn’t catch me,
Oh, you couldn’t catch me with a automobile.
