My son & I bought a Collings at Guitar Junction, after the shop moved from the smaller to the larger premises in Worthing, & on several occasions I had visited the smaller shop & always been treated politely, with no pressure to purchase.   Excellent service, and yes coffee or tea. They fitted an LR Baggs and carried out fine set-up.
Great shop. Shame to see it closed, but Dave Crozier is now in Newhaven at Old-School Guitars - & coffee there too!

I can only speak well of Guitar Junction, having driven from Tamworth Staffs, Dave Crozier welcomed me in, offerred me coffee, and let me play what ever I wanted. He checked out my Santa Cruz OM on which the top seemed to be pulling up slightly, and assured me it was OK. I then bought a second hand Martin JC 16, which is still the best instrument I have. For me they were an OK shop.

i visited my aunt who lives in goring about four years ago ,i noticed guitar junction and stopped off to have a look i saw dave crozier in the shop but it was closed when i eplained to him i d travelled from stoke he let me in ,made me a coffeee snd told me to try any thing i wanted ,...... top geezer

Looks like Mr Guitar Junction Owner (aka Mr John Derek Walford - born in Brighton 1957) may need to use the proceeds of selling "GUEST's" guitar to make a contribution under section 214 (1).

Its amazing what you can find out using this interweb thingy. What I'd like to know is whether the sale of GUEST's guitar/retention of proceeds can be considered an intention to permanently deprive in which case, he could be accused of its theft.

Whilst we're on the subject of dodgy music shops, does anyone know what eventually happened to Messrs Harrisson from Doncaster?

I think Richard nay be inventing terms here.
My belief is that everyone who trades trades 'knowingly'. I can't imaging anyone trades without knowing they're doing it.

With Richard's background many people may take his comments at face value.

I think that what he meant was "trading while knowingly insolvent". A slight change in the order of the words can make a large difference in the meaning!

It seems to me that you do have to justify how guitar junction was run as you are the owner.

If you sell someones guitar for them you should take your commission and pay them promptly. Unless someone walks out of the shop with the guitar and holds the door open for the bailif, which I assume didn't happen, you have, in effect pocketed the money.

Sorry, but I do take exception to being accused of selling a guitar and pocketing the money. Once the winding up process has been finalised, it is expected that everyone (except me) will be paid in full. That is why I have closed the business down now, before debts overwhelm it. Closure at any time will leave some customers waiting for money, but I'd rather not be tried on a forum and found guilty by those ignorant of the true circumstances.

Guitars are personal.

And the "light at the end of the tunnel" test has been obsolete for many years in deciding whether there was unlawful trading. The test is now whether there was a reasonable prospect of avoiding insolvency.

Frankly, as client accounts are mandatory for solicitors, so they should be for people taking the property of others for onward sale. The net amount from the sale due to the former owner should be paid into the client account. Anything else should be treated as fraud. Sale to the new owner without such a payment should also be treated as fraud.

There is no good excuse.

I'm sure their intention wasn't to rip anyone off in regards to "pocketing the money" from selling someones guitar maybe it was hoped that things would get better but obviously they never did.
Remember some people may have lost a guitar, big deal! Others have lost their jobs and maybe more. Think before Writing such idiotic comments.

I e-mailed him. Apparently he has sold it and pocketed the money and I now have to go through creditors to attempt to get the money back. I still have the contract safe and sound fortunately.

There's a case that I half remember about a mercantile agent in possession passing good title even though he had goods on consignment. I think it was about an expensive piano. But I can't remember it exactly.

If you had a guitar with them to sell on consignment, then email [e-mail] to find out where it is and how you can retrieve it.

It's important that they gave you written proof of it being your instrument being sold on commission by them. Should the worst have happened and the stock has been taken by bailiffs acting on behalf of receivers - as happened many years ago to Broadway Music in Worthing - then you have proof that the instrument was not Guitar Junction property.

Well it was the finest guitar shop I've ever been in - but that was a few years ago and Dave C was there. "Play anything you want; can I get you a coffee?"

And oh so many great guitars. At sensible prices. Not cheap, cos as "guest" said "quality costs". I still lust after a 1953 all mahogany OOO Martin which at the time was out my range. A few months later I had the money, but the guitar was long gone. Wonder who's the happy owner?

Top notch emporium - or was, but only some time ago apparently.

Drum'n Strum closed because Marc, who owned it and ran it, decided to retire. No sympathy required. I had several discussions with Marc about stock and what should be done with it, and I was going to do business on eBay on his behalf should push come to shove. In the end, eBay wasn't required and Marc disposed of all his stock quite easily.

I never went into Guitar Junction after DC parted from it, so I can't comment on the new owner or the staff at that period.

Agree its a shame for (most of) the staff but frankly the manager was an arrogant p**** when I went in ther a few months ago. I had just learned that Drum n Strum has closed after 30 odd years and when I mentioned that, he said " yeah good isn't it !" with no hint of sympathy. I refused to go there again and I think they got what they deserve. A few friends of mine agree their attitude sucked !

There will always be stories and rumours when a business closes. Some may have a snippet of truth, but unless the source is the business owner the stories will likely be unreliable.

As to high prices, well quality costs, and for the last few months there have been huge bargains on quality guitars at Guitar Junction. Fact is the economic situation meant that very few people were parting with their cash, even for the bargains.

Now that the business has closed, enquiries about the stock have increased.

Losing a quality independent guitar shop is a shame, for the customers, and the staff.

Customers or prospective customers of Guitar Junction in Worthing (UK) will be saddened to learn that the shop ceased trading on 2nd November. The original founder, Dave Crozier, parted from the business some time ago and has his own company - Old School Guitars - in Newhaven.
