Subject: BS: Ken Clarke to destroy UK rule of law? From: Richard Bridge Date: 15 Jan 12 - 04:26 AM Well, the US has the National Defense Authorisation Act (a very good reason, it seems to me, why no-one should ever face extradition to the USA since the right to a fair trial is not respected), the Irish courts are considering a challenge at the highest level to the European arrest warrant (exposing for example Irish citizens to French courts where the presumption of innocence is NOT the same) and now Ken Clarke wants UK governments to be able to hide evidence of UK security wrongdoing as in cases of Binyam Mohamed and other illegal rendition and complicity in torture. Quis custodiet...? http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/jan/15/henry-porter-ken-clarke-bill-of-rights The sickest part is calling this excuse for Gestapo-like conduct is calling it a "bill of rights". |

Subject: RE: BS: Ken Clarke to destroy UK rule of law? From: Richard Bridge Date: 15 Jan 12 - 02:32 PM So long as the government is not stupid enough to introduce it in the House of Lords, the Parliament Acts will ensure its passage. |

Subject: RE: BS: Ken Clarke to destroy UK rule of law? From: GUEST,Shimrod Date: 16 Jan 12 - 04:30 AM I suspect that the whole economy of the Western world is now on the brink of an unimaginable catastrophe. It's all far worse than we have been told so far and is irreversible. Big Business and their willing politician 'hand maidens' (we elect them, they put all their efforts into supporting BB and the mega-rich) have f***ed up royally. When the inevitable happens there is a whole shit-storm of social unrest heading their way and they're putting draconian laws in place to protect themselves. |
