Here's a query from another list that I'm on:

"I hear that there is a Tom Russell song about Buffalo Bill and Sitting Bull in Italy. I can't find the song, so if it really does exist, perhaps one of the list members could pass the info along."

Maybe a mudcatter can answer this. I know diddly about Tom Russell, myself.

Yeah, that's it. Originally recorded on "The Man From God Knows Where," possibly his top album ever, IMO.

Sitting Bull toured with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show for one season in 1885...in North America's eastern cities..... the Indian agent on his rez, wouldn't allow him to do a 2nd season. Buffalo Bill hired American Horse and Black Elk to replace him. The Show went to Europe (England) in 1887. It was in Italy in 1889 performing for the Pope among others... it was likely at this time that Buffalo Bill was in Venice, but without Sitting Bull....

I've met Tom...and Andrew a couple of times, and liked them instantly

Bill came back again in '03 and even got to my ancestral home in Dolgellau. Hope my relatives got to see him.
