Subject: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: Bobert Date: 02 Mar 12 - 09:20 PM Well, fir the unner-da-liners the old hillbilly going to have a bigass hole opened up in the area of my left thumb and doc chisel out some of the end of the ol' hillbilly's wrist bone and then chop out some tendon and stick it in there between the thumb and the wrist bone which will act like cartridge so I can continue to beat on my geetar for years to come... Good thoughts and prayers and all that warm and fuzzy stuff appreciated from the riff-raft who tend to live under the bridge... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: Bobert Date: 02 Mar 12 - 10:35 PM Tried all that stuff, brucie, long time ago... Actually worked a couple times until it didn't... Bummer... I miss her so much... lol... Then I met the P-Vine and discovered that the ol' gal is so strange that every time is like geetin' some strange... But, alas... Don't change the fact that doc gonna cut a bigass hole in my hand and get out a hammer and chisel out the hand-end of the wrist bone and borrow some tendon stuff and stick it in the gap... But beats, ahhhhh, bad word, the heck outta 24/7 burning feeling in my thumb and not being able to beat, ahhhhh, bad word, my geetar... B~ |

The thumb bone is now into trying to act as a mini-back how and is actually grooving out the wrist bone... I mean, doc asked how I'd put up with it so long??? Guess I mighta have a high threshold for pain??? Didn't think it was THIS bad??? Worst part is that the right thumb ain't all that much better... Next year gonna have to play this song again... Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: Richard Bridge Date: 03 Mar 12 - 06:26 AM I strongly recommend diconal as a painkiller - if you can get it. Almost worth having the pain for. However the medical establishment is strongly against it, you aren't supposed to drink with it, not drive nor operate machinery and in fact it does more than somewhat mong you out! |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: Bobert Date: 03 Mar 12 - 08:42 AM My pain killer of choice is Natural Lite Beer... Didja'll know that you can't get it in the beer stores no more??? It's only available at the health food stores... That's why they call it "natural"... And the beauty of the stuff is that you can have as much as you can hold... No pills... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Mar 12 - 09:01 AM Have you tried just soakin' it in a mash barrel first? Old shine makers rarely had many hand problems and often almost completely lost their fingerprints! But if you maust have the surgery.................best thoughts to you.........Heal quick! Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: kendall Date: 03 Mar 12 - 09:19 AM Wishing you the best old buddy. This sort of thing is scary for a musician. As for all that scatological stuff, It's nice to see someone else getting a "turn in the barrel". And, no, ladies, I'm not going to explain. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: Bobert Date: 03 Mar 12 - 09:24 AM Well, how 'bout explaineratin' the poo stuff to me, Capt'n??? I mean, if I can avoid the knife with a poo-concotion then bring it one... Ya' don't have to drenk the stuff, do ya'??? B;~) |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Mar 12 - 09:25 AM Please note Kendall that Ol' Spaw did NOT post anything scatalogical about Bobertz. Not a word. However, I AM wondering if you might send him that Llama you've been buttschtupping? It'd be a nice gesture on your part............... Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: jacqui.c Date: 03 Mar 12 - 10:04 AM Spaw - the llama got the boot almost eight years ago. I think Seamus chewed it up. (Or did something with it, anyway.) Bobert - that sounds like some real work to be done. I had Carpel Tunnel decompressions done about twenty years ago and remember not being able to use one of my hands for a while. It does make life a bit difficult so I hope that you have been making nice with P-Vine as you will probably be needing a fair bit of help over the next few weeks (and not just for beating whatever). Good thoughts will be heading your way from Maine. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: Rapparee Date: 03 Mar 12 - 10:12 AM You WILL take the pills if you need them. There is no reason why the P-Vine has to put up with your moaning and groaning when she's gonna have to put up with a lot else. For example, which hand do you wipe yer ass with? I had surgery on my right elbow about 9 weeks ago and it ain't fun. You do what yer told, even if it constipates ya. Let the P-Vine hide the pills and decide whether or not you deserve one. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: Bobert Date: 03 Mar 12 - 10:49 AM Speakin' of lamas, screw them pills, Rap... Pills is fir pussies... I ain't takin' no pills... ...unless they is the good stuff (wink, wink0, that is... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: gnu Date: 03 Mar 12 - 12:18 PM I am with ya on the meds. They tried to give me morphine after my first slice & dice but I stuck tylenol. The second one, same deal. After the last one, on my nose, I was offered delauded while I was still messed up from the anesthesia. I asked if it would make me loopy. She said, "You'll be fine." Lyin bitch! Even when they sent me home I nearly fell twice in the hospital, getting in and out of the taxi, and while telling Mum I was juuuust fine. Had a fair few prescriptions for Tylenol 3 w/ Codiene. Still got em all. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: Rapparee Date: 03 Mar 12 - 02:12 PM I ain't thinkin' of Bobert. He wants pain he can have all he can handle. I'm thinkin' of the P-vine, who's gonna have to put up with him. Maybe I'll send her my Olde Familie Blackjacke so she can get a little rest now and then. "Just a tap behind the ear, and no more complaints will you hear" is on the leather strap. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: ChanteyLass Date: 03 Mar 12 - 02:13 PM Bobert, drinking a lot of beer, natural or otherwise, will not be a good idea. You are going to have a hard time with zippers, buttons, snaps, and even pulling up/pushing down elastic waist pants. You won't want to take a lot of trips to the loo! But stay hydrated! |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: gnu Date: 03 Mar 12 - 02:28 PM Git yerself one a them there rigs what ya can pee into a bag strapped to your calf like them pro negotiators use. Er a kilt. Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: JennieG Date: 03 Mar 12 - 05:06 PM Ouch.....sending a few more hugs and good thoughts your way, Bobertz! It might be difficult to eat a nice juicy steak for a wee while because you won't have two hands.....you will need help cutting up your food when you are one-handed. And help with dressing, and possibly showering/hair washing. But being being-free, or in less pain, will be worth it. Cheers JennieG |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: gnu Date: 03 Mar 12 - 05:25 PM At least you'll still have no problem with drinking beer if you rig somethin up to hold the beer while yer openin it. Ya gotta plan ahead for the important stuff eh? And, ya might wanna roll a bunch if ya don't have a bong. Always be prepared, I say. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: Maryrrf Date: 03 Mar 12 - 05:59 PM Sounds painful but once it's over and the healing is done it will be worth it - good luck ! |

Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: EBarnacle Date: 04 Mar 12 - 10:19 AM I hope the transplant takes. Meanwhile, be prepared to let the P-Vine take good care of you. Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: Bobert Date: 04 Mar 12 - 02:04 PM Well, truth be known, Bill, is that all I do is grow the stuff that goes into the P-Vine's sauce... I ain't all that handy as a cook... I need instructions on boiling water... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Under the Knife March 14th... From: EBarnacle Date: 04 Mar 12 - 02:14 PM If they are moving a tendon [or other part] from one location to another, it's called an autotransplant. If it takes and puts everything into the right position, you're done. If not, be prepared for a second surgery. Either way, there is likely to be some pain. |
