Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 08 Oct 12 - 12:33 AM They both won, so it barely matters. Welcome to the NFL RG3. Niners had a heck of a game. Panthers didn't. How 'bout them Colts!! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 07 Oct 12 - 07:54 PM Hey, The Belly called to go for it rather than punt and pin with an edge (a double edge) LATE... fumble... TD... piss me off. There had to be a reason... eh? anyone got a clue as to what it was? |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 07 Oct 12 - 02:11 PM I think I just saw Matt Ryan make the dumbest play I have ever seen a QB make. He was intercepted by a lineman rushing on a swing pass. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 06 Oct 12 - 07:47 AM The rule changes have definitely thrown a wrench into such discussion, making a judgement, subjective to begin with, near impossible. I certainly welcomed the changes whcih I believe have not only improved safety but have also improved the overall level of skill required to be effective on the field. Smashmouth football is still here and will never leave, nor SHOULD it, but I don't miss the days of yore when it had the influence it had. Double goes for hockey. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 05 Oct 12 - 06:48 PM I was thinking Farvre. He took a pounding and didn't really get injured. Tough like a piece of leather. Played at the highest level for a very long time. But playing with injury shows a lot of bravery. Playing with pain shows grit and toughness. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 05 Oct 12 - 06:03 PM I'd agree about Grogan - he almost made the Pats respectable in the Superbowl against the Bears, after Tony Eason had his career destroyed. At least nobody's mentioned Tony Romo. He was the main difference between the Bears and Boys last Monday night. It was only after he was replaced in the last 3 minutes that the Boys had anything like an O. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 05 Oct 12 - 08:02 AM Who is/was the toughest?... I already voted. If there was a trophy for the most broken bones I am pretty sure it would be Grogan. From patriotglory.com :Had Grogan had the rules that QBs enjoy today, it is not inconceivable to think he would have been a much better QB than he already was. Fact of the matter is, Grogan was a very dedicated and tough QB. He played with broken bones, torn ligaments, sprained tendons, and crushed vertebrae. Grogan even played one year with cracked vertebrae in his neck and never once complained of his ailment, nor made any excuses about his performance. Only after the season completed, and a statement was released, did fans find out about his injury. JtS... yup. Thanks. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 05 Oct 12 - 05:04 AM hail-mary-ref-i-learned-a-rule-by-screwing-up-the-rule This story touched me. I thought it would be enjoyed by some of you, especially gnu. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 05 Oct 12 - 05:03 AM Warren was the best QB ever to play the Canadian game. A true star here as well. If we are talking release and accuracy, don't we have to give it to Marino. MVP on his team has to go to P. Manning. Wow what a difference he made in Indy! Who is/was the toughest? |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: J-boy Date: 01 Oct 12 - 03:29 AM You musn't forget Warren Moon if you're discussing great quarterbacks. That man could throw a football. If only he had made it to a superbowl. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 30 Sep 12 - 07:48 PM The refs could have cost GB the game on a blown fumble call. tT |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 30 Sep 12 - 06:50 PM JtS... Vick on sheer talent and no brains... hard to dispute. Stallworth and Swan? Yeah... but, who does Brady have ta throw at? Apples and apples are hard to sort out, eh? I still gotta say... smart - Brady. Sheer talent - Bradshaw. Oh, yeah... tough? - Grogan (poor fucker... >;-) ) Not takin anything away from Elway, Montana (who I LOVED to watch play), Kelly (that was tragic to me), Marino (not so tragic because he always struck me as an arrogant SOB) and sO many others. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 30 Sep 12 - 06:36 PM So far for sheer talent I would have to go with a QB who can run and has a good arm. Staubach, Steve Young, and John Elway come to mind. If being dumb is not held against them Mike Vick and Cam Newton. (There is some hope for Newton to grow up.) Vick takes the prize for the difference between smarts and talent. Elway would be my pick. Montana ranks with Brady as the best leader. Bradshaw was awesome, but you have to give the rest of his offense, especially Stallworth and Swan, a lot of credit. How could you cover them? |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 30 Sep 12 - 06:25 PM Brady is/can be amazing, thanks to The Belly. He was amazing at the line today but only due to, what, at least a dozen years of being coached by the best ever coaches? Talent is inate but making it happen is an inate quality that few coaches have in the way the The Belly has it. I am willing to say that Brady is the smartest QB ever. Sheer talent? Well, that is a tough call. Hahahahahaaa... I just made myself laugh by comparing Brady and Bradshaw in my mind. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 30 Sep 12 - 05:54 PM How bout that Tom Brady? |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 30 Sep 12 - 04:00 PM 90 Alexander also a good game. Rookies are stepping up! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 30 Sep 12 - 03:53 PM 24 Norman has made some good plays! Good rookie play on the D. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 30 Sep 12 - 02:04 PM Kaaarazy game in the Georgia dome. Panthers shaky but so far beating what many have called the number one team in the NFC, if not in the league. I am very impressed so far with 95 C. Johnson and 59 L. Kuechly on the defense!! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 30 Sep 12 - 01:20 PM Wellll... I gotta say that Gronkowski played a major part of that first drive so my earlier comments were skewed by misinformation. Oh, yeah... the Pats put together some amazing plays! That's the strategy I love about yankee football. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 30 Sep 12 - 01:01 PM Only ONE game on TV here this afternoon? Now, that pisses me off more than watching the Pats' first three games. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 30 Sep 12 - 12:58 PM We'll see. Lots of surprises. Skins have the highest rated offense? Gosh, I wouldna thought that but we are only 3 games in, so... |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 30 Sep 12 - 10:48 AM I think that even without those guys, NE has a much better offense. Keep in mind also that Buffalo will be with a third string running back or one just coming back from IR. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 30 Sep 12 - 10:37 AM Hernandez is out and Gronkowski is Q after a hip injury late in the week? Oh, crap! Buffalo could run them out of the stadium. Time of possession is gonna decide this one... Woodhead is averaging 2.5 and if Brady can't get to Whelker (can you say double-team?) the Pats are in serious trouble. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 27 Sep 12 - 12:12 AM Agreement made! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 26 Sep 12 - 07:51 PM I've read the NFL's rationale for the final play of the Packer's game, and it doesn't make sense. The Packers player took the ball in the air, came down with it, and never let go. The Seahawks player had a hand resting on the ball and never had possession. I've seen some bad calls in most forms of football, but this one really takes the biscuit. I was giving the replacement crews the benefit of the doubt, but this weekend was an officiating (and PR) disaster! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 26 Sep 12 - 05:20 PM Without a doubt. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 25 Sep 12 - 10:04 PM Good to see Ben throw well though. They will be back Yeah. They will. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: GUEST,olddude Date: 25 Sep 12 - 09:43 PM Sorry Gnu but the Pack was robbed. I mean the ref guys have to be fucking blind to call that game. If I were a seahawk fan I would be embarrassed. Steelers, well ya can turn over the ball and expect to win. Good to see Ben throw well though. They will be back. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 25 Sep 12 - 07:42 PM I gotta say, if I gotta listen to the commentators yang on the refs all season it will be a short season for me. Give me a fuckin break eh?!!!! NO way they are doin a worse job than the regular refs. *I* KNOW because I used to yell at the regular fuckers every week. Of course, I got two TVs and two VCRs and I am a football nut. They only have a DOZEN REPLAY ANGLES FROM A DOZEN CAMERAS AND THEY ARE THERE while I am watching from a thousand miles away. I see shit in real time and most times I do not need to see the replay to know that the regualar refs woulda fucked that call up too. Oh... trash talk is supposed to be on the other thread? Sorry. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 25 Sep 12 - 06:47 PM Bad week for the Panthers. Cam needs to grow up some. Steelers lose to Raiders???? OUCH! Oldude. Pats lose to Ravens, Good matchup anyway And Green Bay!!! Robbed by the refs. Ooooh those refs. The league is back to the bargaining table? Niners pillaged by the Vikings! What a week!! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 16 Sep 12 - 11:14 PM Should be a good one Monday night. I am cheering for Payton but I think Atlanta will win. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: ranger1 Date: 16 Sep 12 - 10:41 PM Glad I had to work today and missed the Pats game. I think my blood pressure might have gone through the roof if i had watched it. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Bobert Date: 16 Sep 12 - 10:25 PM It would be nice if the scab-refs knew the rules??? They don't... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 16 Sep 12 - 10:18 PM I don't mind refs making mistakes. Happens and that is what the challenges are for. If the refs never made any bad calls I wouldn't get any exercise. Yeah, really... watch a game with me. I relly get into it. Well, I used to. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Bobert Date: 16 Sep 12 - 09:18 PM There were more blown calls today in the Redskins/Rams game then I've seen in years... No, I wouldn't say that they collectively changed the outcome but it's a shame to see such poorly officiated games... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 16 Sep 12 - 09:13 PM 49ers are looking good. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: olddude Date: 16 Sep 12 - 08:56 PM Well my Steelers looked good and they did it the Steeler way with great defense and solid running. Now if they can keep going that way |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 16 Sep 12 - 05:04 PM Then they must be playin football. Not the shit I watched. Yes, I am that pissed off. The Pats need better actors if they want me ta tune in next week. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 16 Sep 12 - 04:51 PM Pittsburgh NyJ is a good game so far. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 16 Sep 12 - 04:49 PM Oh my fuck. Not only do I not believe what just happened in Patsland but... I'll just say I am losing my interest in the NFL at a great rate a fuckin nauts. That was shit. Plain, obvious shit. How the fuck do you throw a game in broad daylight SO Many times IN 60 fuckin minutes and expect fans to tune in next week? I feel 8 years old again and the big kid just nailed me in the nuts with the puck. IS EVERY FUCKIN SPORT FIXED FER FUCK SAKE? We just found out that MLS is (well, HAS been) fixed. I just watched the Owskis throw a game... unless they just coudn't handle the pressure and came apart? Sorry but that is they way I feel. If I didn't see it right, and someone believes I am wrong, maybe... oh, nevermind... I was thinking about spending more time in the kitchen anyway. I decide what *I* fix for eats in my kitchen. Did I say, "Oh my fuck."? Biscuits... yeah... fresh biscuits, molasses, fried ham and eggs... I wonder who is playing later. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2012/13 From: gnu Date: 09 Sep 12 - 12:57 PM Ain't that silly lookin? Long and Strahan should hold him down while Johnson takes care of that thing with a rusty razor. Ya'd think someone would say sumpthin even tho he's a big dude and he's got 4 rings. Then again, for a number of years he's been a lot about flash and sayin stupid stuff ta get a laff. But it sure looks silly on a grown hairy-assed man. |
