I guess I have been in denial but my cat, Teeter, is a wacko cat...

I have told him the story about when we adopted him from the shelter about 5 years ago ever since but he has gotten to havin' to rehear the entire story every night... Sometimes 2 or 3 times...

Whaddaya'llthink???

Try doing just the first line and the last line. Cat probably won't catch on.

I think you've driven that cat nuts with all yer crazy talk, Bobertz. I would take the poor critter off yer hands, only I just don't like cats very much, so no thanks! Too bad it ain't 1864 or '65...you could sell that cat to the local troops for makin' soup. (they was gettin' pretty damn hungry in the last year and a half of the Confederacy, so I hear)

Bite yer tongue, Chongo. Where's your support for other species? The very idea of suggesting such a thing. There should be a warning label on your posting; some of us are just too delicate to read of such monstrosities!

Bobert, try singing it, instead.:-)

I was merely crackin' wise, okay? The Civil War is long over, so the cat ain't in no danger of bein' cooked.

If Teeter is anything like our cats, Bobert, the offer of a nice piece of chicken will magically stop any demanding behaviour for hours. Diversion tactics!

Thread title reminded me of Breakfast at Tiffany's, one of my favourite films. In which Holly Golightly's (Audrey Hapburn's) cat is called Pyewacket. Which sounds like a good name for a wacked out cat.
Not a cat lover myself, but like children, they can be cute in movies.

"Whaddaya'llthink???"

The cat is probably still jumpy from the derecho and its noisy aftermath. (DOes it jump sideways at sudden noises? That's a clue.)

It probably wants extra company and affection to establish that everything is all right now. My own cat is the same in the aftermath of the 4th of July, a holiday which doesn't inspire much patriotism here but is noted for fireworks, the louder the better.

Come to think of it, what was the 4th like at your place?

One of our cats tells us bedtime stories. As soon as we turn the light out she jumps up on the bed beside us and purrs something to us for a few minutes.

My whole family tells bedtime stories to their pets. It's good for everyone involved and promotes reading later in life.

Well they are resurfacing the road by my house. My cat ran across the sticky stuff they put down before they load the asphalt. All four paws tarred ... then ran and jumped on me ... now my blue jeans have custom artwork on them ..

I don't tell Sheldon stories; we have conversations. Goes something like this

"Hello Sheldon"
"Meow"
"How was your day?"
"Meow"
"Did your brother behave?"
"Meeeeeeoooooooow meow meow"

He'll talk back for as long as I care to carry on the conversation.

Got home last week from a couple days away and he went on and on. Ah the joys of having a Siamese cat (or at least part Siamese).

Teeter knows the difference between his adoption story and other stories... I mean, I can leave something out or change the middle around but if it doesn't start, "Remember when you were a little bitty baby..." then he just walks off...

Thread drift--I thought the cat in Breakfast at Tiffany's was just called Cat, and the cat in Bell, Book, and Candle was called Pyewacket.

ChanteyLass has it right; Pyewacket was in Bell, Book & Candle.

All cats are wacked out; it's what makes them irresistible. Siamese cats are even more wacked out than yer normal rat-bashers. There's just nothing like getting the business Siamese-style, with piercing howls and that whippy tail perpendicular and quivering.

Well I don't know where I got the idea that the cat in BaT was called Pyewacket, 'cos I certainly have never read, or seen, Bell Book and Candle.

Agree about Siamese cats. They'll talk to you for ages, and often it sounds like words. (Imagine a Chinese person speaking English with a strong accent: "HaoWao! Hao're YOO? Ngo' ba'." etc) As I said on another thread, Smokey often asks for a "Laptop!")

I can attest to it too, Eliza. Sheldon calls me "Maaaaww" and Mikely now often calls out "Haaaawhooooooa" when he needs attention.

Yes, ChanteyLass. My neighbour has three very nice moggy-type cats. They're gentle and friendly, always coming round here to see our Siamese. BUT...they're totally boring! They just sit there like three tea cosies, no personality, no fun. Our three are very Wacked Out. They wee and spray on anything, shin up the curtains, do mountaineering on roofs, drag items of washing filched from the clothes airer into the garden to sit on. You name it, they're a blessed nuisance, but they make us laugh. Wacked Out is best!
