Subject: RE: BS: Fussbudget Paul Ryan captured the GOP From: GUEST,999 Date: 02 Aug 12 - 03:27 PM I'd like to read Ryan's budget proposal (2009 I think, which means it may have been overtaken by events). Any idea where a guy could find that? |

Subject: RE: BS: Fussbudget Paul Ryan captured the GOP From: Jack the Sailor Date: 02 Aug 12 - 03:33 PM I believe this is the most recent version. I won't be reading it. If I wanted to read naive utopian science fiction, I'd read it by Ayn Rand herself rather than her disciples. |

Subject: RE: BS: Fussbudget Paul Ryan captured the GOP From: Bobert Date: 02 Aug 12 - 03:36 PM This is all so very simple... What Ryan wants, in essence, privatization of the New Deal... This is not a knee-jerk reaction... It is what he wants... Problem is that if there is "X" amount of money for retirement and health care and the government can administer those programs with less than 2% of the pie then if you privatize it and administrative costs are 15% of the pie and the pie size stays the same then it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to tell ya' that the someone is going to take a 13% decrease... Guess who??? B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Fussbudget Paul Ryan captured the GOP From: Jack the Sailor Date: 02 Aug 12 - 04:01 PM Bobert. It is a lot worse than that. So the government gives a 90 year old $2000 per month to buy insurance on an unregulated market. Who is going to sell him insurance? What happens when the treatement costs exceeds the premiums? The banking crisis of 2008 is the best indication of what privatized social security would mean. His plan is to but the retirement future of every non-wealthy American into the hands of unregulated Wall Street superbankers. Where your only economic leverage is as an individual dealing with the likes of CitiGroup and Goldman Sachs. |

Subject: RE: BS: Fussbudget Paul Ryan captured the GOP From: Bobert Date: 02 Aug 12 - 05:34 PM Yes, it is much worse, Jack... It's going to mean a lot of insurance companies doing what they know how to do very well: say "No"... It's going to mean "Sorry, you're retirement check is going down because the stick markets fell... Yes, it is much worse, Jack... B~ |
