Subject: RE: 'Catters on East Coast USA From: Dan Schatz Date: 30 Oct 12 - 03:49 PM We were very fortunate in West Chester, PA - never lost power and the basement stayed dry. Many others were not so lucky. Dan |
Subject: RE: 'Catters on East Coast USA From: MMario Date: 30 Oct 12 - 02:02 PM Finger Lakes were hurt much more I think by our late spring snowstorm about 6 months ago; There is a tree down across a house a block or so from my house, but no visible storm damage on our property. I did get today off work... |

Subject: RE: BS: East Coast 'catters pls check in if able From: maeve Date: 30 Oct 12 - 01:36 PM Thanks, kat. Mudcatters have been checking in upstairs here 'Catters on East Coast USA and downstairs here BS: Storm warnings-east coast US ['Sandy'] so far. I'm assuming many folks in the more direct path of the storm will be unable /too busy managing to check in for now. |
Subject: RE: BS: East Coast 'catters pls check in if able From: SINSULL Date: 30 Oct 12 - 01:15 PM Mainiacs are OK tho I haven't heard from Tami. She may be off cutting wood. SINS |
Subject: BS: East Coast 'catters pls check in if able From: katlaughing Date: 30 Oct 12 - 12:53 PM Thought it would be good to have a central thread so folks in Sandy's path could let us know how they fared. I didn't sleep at all partly due to a stomach bug, but mostly thinking about you all and my kids who are in CT. (They are fine, even have power.) Anyone heard from Severn, Donuel, Don Meixner? Thanks. I'm going back to bed.:-) kat |
Subject: RE: 'Catters on East Coast USA From: DebC Date: 30 Oct 12 - 12:06 PM We're fine here in Central Massachusetts. No power outages and the wind gusts didn't even begin to approach the speeds that were predicted. Our thoughts though are with all the folks in NY, NJ, CT and in other places where the flooding and winds were pretty treacherous. Deb Cowan |
Subject: RE: 'Catters on East Coast USA From: Jeri Date: 30 Oct 12 - 10:07 AM My power went out about 2:15 yesterday, and is still out. I called Bat Goddess shortly after I lost it (power) and they were all settled in. I'm at McD's, recharging my batteries and sucking down coffee. I see clouds with patches of blue sky and the odd seagull. (I know, they're ALL odd.) I've got crap all over my yard, although my neighbor does too, and I think it may be MY crap. They're saying it might take a week in some places to get the power on. Hopefully it's not the case where I live. |
Subject: RE: 'Catters on East Coast USA From: Maryrrf Date: 30 Oct 12 - 10:06 AM OK in Richmond, Virginia. Didn't lose power - there was rain and wind but not too bad and it looks fairly calm out there now. Sounds like NYC got the worst of it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Survives Sandy!!! From: maeve Date: 30 Oct 12 - 09:55 AM High Classified, of course. |

Subject: RE: 'Catters on East Coast USA From: Bill D Date: 30 Oct 12 - 09:49 AM Fine in Silver Spring, MD... there was some wind damage near us, but we never lost power in my area. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Survives Sandy!!! From: Rapparee Date: 30 Oct 12 - 09:47 AM I didn't mention the extensive music library, either. Or the recording studio. That stuff is CLASSIFIED!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Survives Sandy!!! From: maeve Date: 30 Oct 12 - 09:43 AM It's certainly muddied. You forgot the dedicated musical instrument bunker. Thanks, Max. |
Subject: RE: 'Catters on East Coast USA From: maeve Date: 30 Oct 12 - 09:41 AM Check your Mudcat cookies, friends. If you're not signed in and you don't sign your post, most of us won't know who is ok and who has not checked in. Ok in Midcoast Maine...most of the system passed south of us. |
Subject: RE: 'Catters on East Coast USA From: GUEST Date: 30 Oct 12 - 09:34 AM All is quiet in Upstate NY. Storm passed last night, wasn't as bad as I thought, but of course we are quite a distance from the coast. Looks like another beautiful fall morning here. Peace. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Survives Sandy!!! From: Rapparee Date: 30 Oct 12 - 09:34 AM The Mudcomputers are now located deep underground, in a man-made tunnel in a secret location in the hills somewhere are State College, PA. They have their own nuclear power source (courtesy of a folkie high the Navy hierarchy) and buried fiber-optic lines connect to a variety of nodes. A satellite in geosynchronous orbit over The Cafe (as it's called) can also accept and beam down Mudcat. This underground bunker contains living quarters for six, with water and other necessities for six years stored behind blast-proof doors. A slight overpressure is maintained to prevent the influx of chemicals, radiation or biological agents. The entire thing is mounted on giant springs to absorb the effect of both earthquake or a nuclear bombing. These are the public facts; the rest is Mudclassified. |
Subject: RE: 'Catters on East Coast USA From: GUEST Date: 30 Oct 12 - 09:07 AM Just to say we're OK in Maryland (takoma Park) and the worst of the storm is over for us I think. Other areas seemed to have suffered worse so I think we're staying put for the time being but hoping to get to the eisteddfod on friday |
Subject: RE: 'Catters on East Coast USA From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 30 Oct 12 - 08:42 AM & from me sandra |
Subject: BS: Mudcat Survives Sandy!!! From: Charley Noble Date: 30 Oct 12 - 07:54 AM How did this happen? I was expected the website to become overwhelmed by the storm, picked up by the storm surge and redeposited in bitts and pieces along the Jersey shore, with planks from the old Atlantic City Boardwalk. Brilliant work, Max! Max....... Max are you still there??? Cheerily, Charley Noble |
