Of course this guy is one of the crooks that should be behind bars, but it doesn't make what he says any less true.

There was a time long ago when I actually felt that our government and our elected officials were actually working for the best interest of our country and people. Not that there weren't some bad apples, not that mistakes weren't made and even covered up for a time, but that the overall direction was one of good intent.

Only a fool or someone completely in denial could hold that view now. Simply on scale alone we have the most corrupt government on earth. There are certainly many, many worse governments, but based only on corruption, on total amount of money involved, we must be at the top of the heap.

The ones most responsible for our current sad state are Wall Street, giant corporations, who dedicated decades and billions, legions of lawyers to deregulate laws prohibiting corruption, followed by legions of lobbyists, highly paid tools, who were often selected by their corporate masters and groomed to "appeal" to the general public for elected office, with copious amounts of advertising dollars pumped through the willing prostitutes of corporate media to legitimize the "candidate". After serving a term or two(provided they "played" the game), with suitable "connections" established in the halls of power, the politician/lobbyist returns with cash and often ready written bills, beneficial to the corporate sponsor, for their "connections" to pass through congress. For Wall Street a great system, if you can stand the smell, for ordinary American families with no representation, not so much. It also helps to have a thoroughly corrupted supreme court, to put the whole stink fest on afterburner, in order to betray the American people, with the Citizens United decision.

And there you have it in a nutshell. Why, if this is the case, aren't Americans marching on Washington in the millions? We're all numb. We're all tired. Working all the hours of the day and night, no vacation, no pension, can barely feed the kids and pay the rent. In short we've been "corporatized", we've been "wallmarted". So far the Demons (Dimons) are winning.

Obama's budget proposal comes out on April 10, and that day will mark the beginning of the end for the Democratic party. Even Obama's blindest supporters on the far left will be forced to see what he's done, and the party will not recover in time for the 2016 presidential election. A fascist Republican will be the next occupant of the white house.

Democrats need to impeach Obama after he moves to gut social programming on April 10. Republicans can't impeach him; it has to be done by Democrats. The development was reported in the Washington Post 's online blog, not its print edition, and received no coverage on network television news. The New York Times has not reported on it.

The Obama administration's budget proposal, front-page news Friday, contains cuts that will further undermine the health and well being of the elderly, disabled and other recipients of Social Security and Medicare. It sets a ten-year target for deficit reduction of $1.8 trillion, above and beyond the $2.5 trillion that the president and congressional Republicans have agreed to cut since 2011, bringing the total to $4.3 trillion.

If the relatively small cuts produced by the sequester have already led to the cutoff of life-saving treatment to tens of thousands of people, cuts on the scale proposed by Obama and the congressional Republicans mean a social catastrophe.

Obama has OFFERED a "chained CPI" is a way of measuring inflation and reducing spending. It has the effect of limiting cost-of-living increases for social security payments, medicare and veteran benefits. For this reason, most democrats oppose the offer.

Also false, quite obviously. Boehner, for one, opposes chained CPI because he sees it as a tax increase in disguise.

For the record, I am not in favor of Obama's proposal either but that's all it is--a proposal, an offer. And it likely will go nowhere. I think Obama wants to show voters that even when he goes against his party and offers the GOP something some of their bigwigs say is essential to the welfare of the country, they turn it down because he--Obama--is offering it and for no other reason. This is all a run-up to the midterms next year when the White House is hoping the voters throw the GOP out of the House.

Then again, I'm not explaining this to the OP because he knows perfectly well what he said is not true. This is an open post for anyone without an agenda who cares to read it and do their own research.

the folks who think that the taxes that I pay into social security and then will have to pay income taxes on when I finally get to collect is part of a "free loading entitlement"... take a good look at the real takers in our society.

Any employees as over paid and under productive as the current members of congress would have been handed their pink slips a long time ago... but instead we let them continue in office and create laws that protect their salaries and benefits.

The same folks who obstruct anything and everything that they were supposedly sent to Washington to do... take care of the country... the whole country and not just a few favored ones.

First, the president cannot change laws, that is the legislature's job.

Second, the Republican position is to give 100% of the money Social Security recipients that they were promised, regardless of "need". The people paid that money as demanded and should get what they were promised.

Third, about 43% of all federal welfare program payments are based on fraud. Getting that money back where it belongs would mean there is no need to cut Social Security (or anything else).
