While it is somewhat regrettable that BB apparently missed school on the day his teacher explained that proper nouns ending in "y" don't form their plurals following the same conventions as common nouns, it's much more regrettable that a large number of Mudcat's frequent posters seem to have missed huge swaths of class time when their teachers explained the proper role of manners, courtesy, and civilized behavior.

The OP is just quoting a (questionable) press product, so I would neither call it asinine nor rational. The asininity lies in the sensationalist blow-up of spurious witness accounts, typical for the tabloid press and its fans. Otherwise Don Firth (11 Jun 13 - 03:33 PM) is spot-on.

Politicians and other powerful persons killing for their own career is a serious phenomenon, still acute. Remarkable that the once idolized Kennedys are now thought perfectly capable of that - presumably in the light of their now known role in the Vietnam war and other crises. Their current reincarnation seems to have just arrived at a similar turning point.

As for Norma Jean, we should add that she was also remarkable as a singer, her recordings still being a pleasure to listen to.
