Subject: Muppett is off on his rambles again From: GUEST,muppett Date: 03 Jul 13 - 10:32 AM Hiya, it's come to that time of the year again when I do my 'Walk for Amos' Challenge. Amos for those of you that don't know is my Grandchild no. 4 ( of 5), he's 3 years old now, but he was born with a rare liver disease known as Billary Atresia and at 9 weeks old he had to have a 7hr. op. to save his life. it was successful, but he'll most likely need a liver transplant before he's an adult. Because of this, each year I do a challenge walk to raise money for the Children's Liver Disease Foundation. This year my Challenge is to walk the Perimeter of the North York Moors National Park in 6 1/2 days, a total of 160 miles, This my intended route. July 21st Whitby to Scarbro 22 miles July 22nd Scarbro to Newton upon Rawcliffe 26 miles July 23rd Newton upon Rawcliffe to Helmsley 26 miles July 24th Helmsley to Osmotherley 21 miles July 25th Osmotherley to Gt. Ayton 27 miles July 26th Gt. Ayton to Staithes 26 miles July 27th Staithes to Whitby 12 miles I have set up a Just giving site for Donations, It would be grand if you could donate, how much well I'll leave it up to you, as a certain Supermarket says 'Every Little helps http://www.justgiving.com/Michael-Pascal1 Thanks for taking time to read this and if you are in the area when I am, come and say Eh up. Cheers Muppett :D) |

Subject: RE: Muppett is off on his rambles again From: GUEST,muppett Date: 05 Jul 13 - 11:16 AM Cheers Tim & Pete, really looking forward to doing it, did a test run of sections I'd not done before (between Helmsley and Saltburn)over the Whit bank holiday. There's some Fantastic and contrasting scenery & I think it'll be the most knackering of the walks I've done to date, but if I can raise some pennies as a result it'll well worth the effort. :D) |

Subject: RE: Muppett is off on his rambles again From: GUEST,JHW Date: 19 Jul 13 - 05:24 AM Don't be afraid to cry off if this heat continues - I've only done evening walks this last week I can't believe you walk in crocs! I only use them to go to campsite showers and even that's uncomfortable |
Subject: RE: Muppett is off on his rambles again From: GUEST Date: 19 Jul 13 - 09:44 AM Hiya JHW, Just looked on the BBC Weather forcast for the Whitby area, looks like the temp. is due to fall a few degrees over the next few days , so that should help. Re. Crocs I find them really comfy, did a 40 mile 1 day walk in a pair, which took me across moorland, through woods and along farm tracks a few weeks ago and didn't have a single blister. |

Subject: RE: Muppett is off on his rambles again From: GUEST,muppett Date: 29 Jul 13 - 09:44 AM Hiya everyone, I did it, all 160 miles and every miles in my trusted blue pair of crocs with no blisters. it was a grand journey and fantastic scenery. Finished it up with a portion of Whitby fish n Chips and several pints in the Black Horse (sorry didn't make it over the river for the FILO Session). Any suggestions for a similar length walk next year and donations still being accepted for this year's walk; www.justgiving.comMichael-Pascal1 Cheers Muppett :D) |
