I reluctantly opened this thread, and noticed this. Songwronger, raising the debt ceiling in no ways increases debt. It just enables us to pay for what we've already committed to. Are you really one of those deadbeats who would attempt to balance his personal budget by not making a mortgage payment?

Whether Osama bin Laden died in 2001 as Benazir Bhutto believed of whether he died in 2011 doesn't matter - taking Hersch's story at face value Barack Obama announcing that Osama bin Laden had been killed forced Al-Qaeda into announcing to the world that Osama bin Laden WAS DEAD, after all irrespective of when he died they could not produce him in the flesh as it were, which would be the only way they could refute the claim that he had been killed - a video or audio recording would simply not cut the mustard.

A good non-story way of course of promoting a book.

Of course the public spokesmen of al-Q played along. If he's not really dead, he can be deep underground in a luxury superscience lab funded by SPECTRE, pulling the levers behind the scenes and beyond all suspicion.

(At least when he's not in the White House.)

SPECTRE is funded by the very tax dollars that supposedly go to socialistic health-care tyranny in Europe and elsewhere. It's very complicated, but researchers are constantly working to expose the truth.

The chilling reality that is SPECTRE was first disclosed by Ian Fleming in "Thunderball" (1961). That's the book, not the movie.

At the height of his acclaim, former British Naval Intelligence operative Fleming was found dead of a reported "heart attack."

He was 54.

If you're saying that the spy's widely publicized death was simply a form of "deep cover," you'll get no argument from me. Similarly, there were reports, never officially confirmed or specifically denied, that JFK survived the "assassination" too disfigured to be seen by the public but nevertheless guiding much of America's disastrous Vietnam policy.

In any case, the young President, who had frequently stated his admiration for Fleming's books, was soon removed from the scene.

Fleming's death certificate appears to be genuine, but it has not been subject to full scientific and forensic scrutiny.

Which, if properly done with advanced conspiracy-theory techniques, would almost certainly tend to call it into question.

No one saw bin Laden's body. The only way his death can be proven is to produce the corpse. No one can. And there are no photos of it. And no eyewitnesses.

Claims of Hersch making his claim in order to sell books. Possible.

Osama bin Laden was buried at sea because they did not want his burial site to become some sort of shrine—which it would have become had his burial site been known.

There was a damned good reason for the way they handled it, and that's IT. Nothing to do with any kind of cover-up.

(Actually, the REAL reason was to give Songwronger something to fasten on and keep him off the streets.)
