I heard this hymn as a child on a recording by Evangelist Lester Roloff (in late 60s). Haven't been able to find it anywhere. Can anyone help with complete lyrics and any info on writer and year written.

The song you are looking for is titled 'Til The Storm Passes By It was written by Mosie Lister. The chorus starts off with the phrase "Til the storm passes over" but the actual title is 'Til The Storm Passes By. I have the lyrics, if you want. However, I would suggest you purchase the accompaniment soundtrack (if you are a singer) from DAYWIND (1-800-635-9581), the lyrics are included with the cassett tape. You can also purchse the score with lyrics from your local Christian book supply store. It is in the "Bill Gaither Homecoming Souvenir Songbook" Collectors Edition. The book is blue colored. There are several other Bill Gaither song books that have just about every Southern Gospel song you can imagine. The price of the songbook is around $23.00

I'm looking for the lyrics and score to "If God Didn't Care" It was sung by The Statesmen and Jake Hess. I have the record already. If you have any information on this, it would be greatly appreciated. Have a good day!

Pavlina and I did this as a duet, followed by "Under His Wings", for Special Music at Fremont Baptist last month. We got them (and the little piano interlude between) from the Nazarene hymnal Sing to the Lord, which is the hymnal used by First Baptist Church of Malden, Massachusetts, where I visited in July (the pastor gave me a copy). FWIW Lillenas, the copyright holder, is the Nazarene brand. Anyway, here's a melody MIDI: LISTER: (Click to Play).

Our accompanist (my former and we hope our future roommate) wanted us to do three songs, following these two up with "Jesus Saves", but we talked him out of it.

Two young girls who belonged to a Church of God In Christ {COGIC} congregation taught this uptempo gospel song to my daughter in the mid 1980s. And she sung it for me.

Here are the words as I remember them:

Mark Wilson, FCCB Gospel Choir Director, taught to the assorted folk who showed up for the first practice a year ago. I was thrilled by this music: the sincerity of the message, the imagery, the force of the voices. This tradition of music is connected to the spirit of life in a way that I had hungered for; actually per-forming it was an additional dimension I couldn't have imagined until doing it. After "Encourage My Soul," we learned "Hallelujah, Salvation and Glory." What a long way from the hymns of my Presbyterian/Episcopalian/Congregationalist back-ground! Since losing my elder genera-tion, the regular hymns of any Christian tradition often make me cry. But this African American tradition of music is so different in structure and in spirit that I don't weep. When we sang the refrain, "the storm is passing over" (sung O-vah), ending with "Hallelu!" I felt, what more could pos-sibly help with the stages of life, crises, and changes that we all experience? The music gives me a focus and a joy that hasn't come to me through any other experience. Btw, in Christina Creveling's comments that I excerpted in my Vritthe my 10 Apr 07 - 03:03 AM post on this thread, she wrote that "After "Encourage My Soul," we learned "Hallelujah, Salvation and Glory.".

I find that very interesting since "Hallelujah, Salvation, and Glory" was another song that those same girls and my daughter and she taught me in the mid 1980s. Actually, I had my own private concert when these 9 year old and 8 year old girls sang Hallelujah, Salvation and Glory and "Encourage My Soul" for me.

Notice the man adding juba pats {chest body patting} to his handclapping. His singing part is the one that I remember learning.

Also note that this song apparently is known by three different titles: "Hallelujah, Salvation, and Glory"; "He Is Wonderful", and "The Lord our God Is Mighty" {though I don't often find this last title used for this song}

This was my dad's favorite song. As he lay dying in March 2006, my sisters, mother and I sang this to him. The 3rd verse gave us great comfort:"When the long night has ended, and the storms come no more. Let me stand in Your presence on that bright, peaceful shore. In that land where the tempest never comes, Lord may I dwell with Thee 'til the storm passes by." As we sang the end of the chorus, we were able to release Dad into the loving arms of Jesus (...Hold him fast, let him stand, in the hollow of your hand, keep him safe 'til the storm passes by.") It was a special moment - a holy time. It a comfort to all of us and a testimony as we shared our experience with others

I had the privilege of hearing and even seeing Mosie Lister sing this song.
Lately as I watch family, friends, and acquaintances struggle through illnesses, problems, and now the whole world stuggling through storms,
I appreciate this song more than ever.
