Subject: Obit: Ronnie Corbett From: Dave the Gnome Date: 31 Mar 16 - 06:48 AM So, it's goodnight from him :-( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35934024 Condolences to all his family and close friends. If there is an afterlife I hope he performs, along with Ronnie Barker, the many skits of folk and country music that was one of their many talents. Sad now. DtG |

Subject: RE: Obit: Ronnie Corbett From: Rumncoke Date: 31 Mar 16 - 11:58 AM A couple of nights ago I was watching a TV program about Status Quo, and there were the two Ronnies doing a parody - bloody good, said one of the band, particularly the one being me. After that (he said) we used to sing the same words. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Ronnie Corbett From: fat B****rd Date: 31 Mar 16 - 01:12 PM I actually heard this from Dara O'Briain, whom I accosted on Edinburgh train station this morning. Nice man. So long Charley Farley RIP. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Ronnie Corbett (1930-2016) From: bradfordian Date: 31 Mar 16 - 04:18 PM We baby boomers have been blessed with hearing and seeing lots of great talented comic performers in our lifetime and Ronnie is "up there" with the best. He had been performing for around 60 years, giving us many enjoyable hours laughing with the Two Ronnies. Those brilliant song parodies: eg, Plumstead Ladies Male Voice Choir, Bold Sir John etc. always struck a happy chord! |

Subject: RE: Obit: Ronnie Corbett (1930-2016) From: Gillie Date: 01 Apr 16 - 09:14 PM A little man, just a spit in height above me, but big in stature. Always a favorite, they don't make humor like that anymore! Rest easy. xx |
Subject: RE: Obit: Ronnie Corbett (1930-2016) From: GUEST Date: 02 Apr 16 - 01:25 AM I agree with the sentiments above, but Gillies phrase - they don't make humour like that anymore - encapsulates my thoughts on the many wonderful British TV comedy shows that used to be seen here in Australia in the 60's, 70's and 80's, there doesn't seem to be anything now of that kind at all. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Ronnie Corbett (1930-2016) From: GUEST Date: 03 Apr 16 - 12:18 PM An awful lot of famous people in show business or music have passed away in recent months (Ronnie Corbett, Terry Wogan, Paul Daniels, David Bowie, Lemmy from Motorhead, etc). It gets to the stage that it's hard to remember who's alive and who's dead (there used to be a website called something like "who's alive and who's dead" at http://www.whosaliveandwhosdead.com/, but I just tried it and got an error message so I don't know if it still exists. Sometimes though one is pleasantly surprised to find out that someone who you thought was dead is still alive. After seeing the British actor Joss Ackland on TV recently I looked up Google to see when he died and found out that not only was he still alive, technically he had only celebrated about 22 birthdays as he was born on February 29th! (2016 is of course a leap year). He was however born about 88 years ago. |
