Subject: Ode to Joy - other lyrics From: Susan of DT Date: 22 Mar 17 - 10:44 PM When I was in elementary school (Brooklyn, 1950s) we sang a set of words to Ode to Joy that do not seem to be anywhere on Google. I remember the first two lines: Ode to joy from Heaven descending Hail joy all you here below... Does anyone know the rest or where it came from? Yes, I know there are several sets of words sung to Ode to Joy, notably Jabowocky and parodies thereof. |

Subject: RE: Ode to Joy - other lyrics From: Susan of DT Date: 23 Mar 17 - 07:30 AM BobL - Jabberwocky sings to beautifully to Ode to Joy. Just stretch a couple of syllables. I was trying to find you one on youtube, but there are a number of tunes people sang it to and I did not see how to limit the search to that tune. (jabberwocky ode to joy got all ode to joys with any words and ode to joy jabberwocky got all jabbowockys at any tune). Nigel - thanx, but I did not see this set of words. Our chorus is singing the common Joyful, Joyful words, which is what got me started thinking about this. |
