I never use the direction giving part of Google Maps. I look for the place I'm headed, sometimes send the site to my phone, but then simply drive there with occasional reference to the map.

What model is the phone? Are there updates you might have missed? (I also have had LG phones for the last three - one died, but the other two have been exemplary. G3, G4, V20.

I use google maps on my horrible LG smart phone and whenever I get close to where I'm going it tells me You're Here! but I'm NOT, I'm just close. Any fixes? I spent 20 mn looking for an address because it kept telling me I was there, when I wasn't. So I start it again, it says 180m thataway, I head thataway and it tells me I'm there, but I'm still not. It was one of those apartment complexes where the numbers don't make sense, FYI. Can you help? Google doesn't seem approachable. Thank you. Sigh. Or should I just pay for a different system. Fat sigh.
