Subject: RE: BS: Cyndi lauper From: olddude Date: 12 May 18 - 09:22 PM Lying in my bed, I hear the clock tick and think of you Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new Flashback, warm nights almost left behind Suitcases of memories, time after... Sometimes you picture me, I'm walking too far ahead You're calling to me, I can't hear what you've said Then you say, "Go slow." I fall behind The second hand unwinds [Chorus] If you're lost, you can look and you will find me Time after time If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting Time after time If you're lost, you can look and you will find me Time after time If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting Time after time |

Subject: RE: BS: Cyndi Lauper From: ranger1 Date: 13 May 18 - 09:03 PM I've always liked Cyndi Lauper. But then again, I grew up in the 80s. |
Subject: RE: BS: Cyndi Lauper From: Allan Conn Date: 14 May 18 - 03:26 AM I am with you Ranger. Good songwriter and performer. She may not have the normal diva type pop voice but that is no bad thing! She can still get the crowd going too. This was from Hootenany several years back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Msh84E5Qak |

Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: Jeri Date: 14 May 18 - 09:08 AM This gets stuck in my head: "Fearless" When she started to sing "At Last" on the TV show Bones I thought it would be a mess, but that lady has pipes! And she plays dulcimer. (It's on the first song linked) Moved to the music side of things. |
Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: GUEST,Greg F. Date: 14 May 18 - 09:42 AM For those who like her performance on "Bones" have a listen to her whole CD by the same name. Absolutely wonderful. |
Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: Stilly River Sage Date: 14 May 18 - 10:13 AM After that Bones performance I spent time looking up more of her performances; I was probably one of many reminded afresh of her vocal talents. |
Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: keberoxu Date: 14 May 18 - 02:19 PM One of the few times I sat through Celebrity Apprentice was when Cyndi Lauper was one of the contestants. She was a trouper and more than held up her end. Unlike one fellow who got drunk and crashed on a sofa, who must not be named. However, from the beginning, the corporate favorite was the late Joan Rivers. She and the Donald, I must say, were two of a kind. I cheered Cyndi on, anyhow. Now she turns up -- as she did last night on network television -- in an advertisement for a medication for a form of psoriasis. |
Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: Stilly River Sage Date: 14 May 18 - 07:13 PM I suspect she is doing that only because they are paying her a lot of money and because she believes it works. She doesn't strike me as someone who suffers foolish advertisements gladly. And she has been keeping herself busy with theatrical activities like Kinky Boots. |
Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: ChanteyLass Date: 14 May 18 - 08:58 PM Oops, that was me at 13 May 18 - 08:59 PM. I didn't realize that Mudcat had eaten my cookie until later. |
Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: fat B****rd Date: 15 May 18 - 05:06 PM Once saw her do a mean version of Bobby Bland's "Blind Man" and I've always liked "Time After Time". |
Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: Elmore Date: 18 May 18 - 10:37 AM Eva Cassidy did a fine cover of "Time After Time". It's on YouTube. |
Subject: RE: Cyndi L per From: robomatic Date: 18 May 18 - 02:02 PM She is a wonderful singer with some great songs and a good singing voice but I also enjoy her speaking voice, the high feminine New York accent which reminds me of so many of my eastern relations (the feminine ones). |
Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: GUEST,Greg F. Date: 18 May 18 - 03:36 PM HEY!! Get outa here!!! Dat ain't no Noo Yawk accent- dats western Queens County - next to and virtually a BROOKLYN acent, God bless her. She's one of the few tradition bearers left preserving a dying language. You Go, Girl!! |
Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: GUEST,Clive Pownceby Date: 19 May 18 - 01:49 PM It's unfortunate that the first hit kind of tagged her with an airhead image - she is anything but. Have always liked her and I turn in an a cappella reading of 'Sally's Pigeons' from time to time. An astute woman and one of two I'd like to have dinner, or maybe just a few beers with! |
Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: gillymor Date: 19 May 18 - 03:21 PM Cyndi was the guest on the NPR quiz show "Wait,Wait Don't Tell Me" this week. Funny and charming she was. |
Subject: RE: Cyndi Lauper From: GUEST,kenny Date: 20 May 18 - 04:44 AM I first heard "Time After Time" performed by jazz duo "Tuck & Patti" on MTV in the mid/late-80s. Only later found out it was by Cyndi Lauper. Here's a version from "Youtube" : https://youtu.be/nIVjCJ3jNDw |
