What songs are appropriate for the tragedy's that are all too constant. We had a shooting in my home town and all I could think of were.

There are some great post flood songs...some great Ocean Ranger songs. Lots of songs about various shipwrecks.

What I have said we need is a very inspiration, very singable song like an anthem in four or five languages..english, spanish, creole, and chinook trading language...plus for some reason my brain says dutch, one of first languages of european usa.

here is something obviously based on the australian song..i don't like when people do this and i don't know if they would hate me doing this...should put a new tune and chorus to it. couldn't help it...just jumped on to it.

Maybe somebody can remember the story of "The Springhill Mine Disaster" - as I understand it, the initial reaction of the locals was hostile, and it took some effort on Pete Seeger's part to persuade them that he wasn't exploiting them for sensation value.

The initiative has to come from the people affected. Any one-size-fits-all prepackaged song-for-any-tragedy is going to be crass.
