Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 24 Jul 20 - 11:28 AM Fresh Air July 23, 2020 show with the Mary Trump interview. I've made time to start reading the book. Apparently Ms. Trump has a an academic literature background and as Rachel Maddow remarked, it shows. The book is well written, pulls you along. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Helen Date: 26 Jul 20 - 05:55 PM I just watched an interview which aired last night on Oz TV. Mary Trump appeared to be rational, well-informed, balanced, empathetic, with her expertise in her psychological field very much to the fore. I might read the book just based on that interview so that I can look more deeply into what she is saying. |

Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Ebbie Date: 30 Jul 20 - 12:51 AM OK, I know this is not the fAcebook Martin guitar page but I also know there are a good many musicians here. So, I have a question. Today Mary Trump was a guest on The REIDout show. Trump, of course, was in her own home. Against the wall leaned a guitar; I am wondering what kind it is. The headstock had a gentle slope on each side with a flat, squared mesa joining the slopes. (These are NOT technical terms) But what kind is it? |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: gillymor Date: 30 Jul 20 - 07:15 AM I can't quite read the script, Ebbie, but judging from the slotted head stock and the design of it I think it's a Taylor nylon string. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Ebbie Date: 01 Aug 20 - 08:50 PM Thank you, Gillymor. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: keberoxu Date: 24 Sep 20 - 12:50 PM Look at this! The New York Times: Mary Trump sues Donald Trump, his sister Maryanne, and the whole Trump family |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Mr Red Date: 24 Sep 20 - 05:32 PM In the great chess game this is, surely she has to sue Captain Catastrophe and his siblings. Twitler threatens, she counters. She then has documents in a law court that would be used to defend against his actions. Assuming he is stoopid enough to carry out the threats. And doesn't half (plus a bit) of the USA want her to go for the jugular? Plus a sizeable portion of the rest of the world, that isn't in Putin's pocket. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 24 Sep 20 - 07:37 PM If one of the surviving siblings concurs, then it's game over. But they will give up income in the process, and they're Trumps. This does hit him where it hurts - the documents he doesn't want to share need to come out. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: keberoxu Date: 26 Sep 20 - 03:47 PM There are narcissists in my own family of origin as well, even though they are not Trumps. The detail that I cannot get out of my head, is an image without Donald Trump in it. It is the image of Mary Trump secretly recording a conversation with Maryanne Trump Barry, whom Mary Trump is now suing. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 26 Sep 20 - 05:47 PM In Texas it is legal to make a recording of a conversation if one person knows it is being recorded. You'll have to look at the rules from state to state to decide if it passes the smell test. In a family of vipers like the Trumps, protecting herself by recording conversations makes perfect sense. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Ebbie Date: 28 Sep 20 - 01:20 AM OK, another bombshell. The New York Times has acquired trump's tax records of the last 20 years. They are, let's say, interesting. For 11 of the last 18 he paid zero, zip, federal taxes. In both 2008 and 2009, when he was elected president he paid $750.00 in Federal taxes. That is Seven Hundred Fifty dollars. Will he slide out of this? Will the polls suddenly show him leading among the electorate? Will he emerge triumphant? It doesn't seem possible but I suppose it is. His base seems impermeable. What scares me is the crowds he draws- if they are indicative of his standing among MOST American voters, we are doomed. Incidentally I am one person who never saw The Apprentice but I had known of him for a number of years. It never occurred to me that anyone would take him seriously in the world of politics and that view was only enhanced by his couple of abortive attempts to run. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: JennieG Date: 28 Sep 20 - 02:28 AM Ebbie - you and I might be horrified (although not surprised), but I can't help wondering how many of his fan base will admire him for this? "Gee, I wonder how I could weasel out of paying taxes too? He must be pretty smart to be able to get away with it." Or something along those lines. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Ebbie Date: 28 Sep 20 - 04:48 PM Oh dear. You could be right. In trying to get inside my brother's head - he is a trumper - I don't THINK that would be his response, I THINK that he would/will be more along the lines of 'It's just another liberal lie!'. On the other hand, I was wrong in thinking he'd never fall for the Con, so what do I know. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 30 Sep 20 - 05:53 PM Mary Trump has a lot to say about the Trumps and taxes. In a nutshell, the Trumps hate to pay them and cheat to avoid doing so. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: keberoxu Date: 08 Nov 20 - 10:10 AM So incumbent US President Trump has been defeated in the 2020 Presidential election race, and the Guardian's Jude Rogers has now passed along Mary Trump: "After January, things look bleak for Donald . . . " |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Donuel Date: 08 Nov 20 - 10:20 AM I saw her yesterday. SHE WAS SMILING, I had never seen that before. She actually looked very pretty when she smiled. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 08 Nov 20 - 05:21 PM I imagine there is great relief in the family to have him unelected, but now he'll have the leisure (possibly) to turn his attention to family matters. I wonder if her lawsuit will go forward (along with so many others he is facing). I think she filed her suit on the day the RNC started - it was a strategic date, at any rate, I'm sure calculated to rattle him. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Steve Shaw Date: 09 Nov 20 - 06:36 AM I could suggest that, when you describe someone's appearance changing when they smile, you use adjectives that could be applied equally to men and women. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Charmion Date: 09 Nov 20 - 06:55 AM I have known a fair few pretty men, Steve, although I admit they were all quite young; it’s not a quality that typically survives beyond a man’s 30th birthday. I wonder if Mary Trump can stop herself grinning like a possum right now. The schadenfreude runs deep with that one. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: gillymor Date: 09 Nov 20 - 07:42 AM My gawd, who wouldn't be grinning like a possum today considering that we just flushed the most dangerously incompetent president in our history. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Jeri Date: 09 Nov 20 - 09:27 AM I don't think "schadenfreude" is the same thing as being happy something turned out good. Is it schadenfreude to be glad someone got what was coming to him? One wonders if, after the electoral college verifies the eletcion results, the secret service doesn't have to drag him out, and put all his stuff on the lawn. But Biden is very patient. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Charmion Date: 09 Nov 20 - 09:39 AM Yes, Jeri, you're right; schadenfreude is enjoying the unhappiness of others. But Mary would have to be some kind of saint not to be at least a little gleeful that Mr T is facing a comeuppance. I wanna see that gold-plated toilet out on a lawn somewhere. And the weird "holiday" decor I remember from a couple of years ago. That would please, not only me, but also the shade of Jackie O, I imagine. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: gillymor Date: 09 Nov 20 - 09:52 AM Biden campaign spokesperson Andrew Bates issued this statement on the subject: "..the United States government is perfectly capable of escorting trespassers out of the White House,” and at noon on Jan.20 trump will no longer be president and if he's still in the People's House he'll be a trespasser. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 09 Nov 20 - 10:01 AM I imagine Melania won't shift herself to do xmas in the White House this year - it's a good thing that HGTV has so many recordings of Christmas Past they can play for the healing nation. I thought that look she came up with was interesting, actually, but not in that setting. It would have been perfect in the long connecting corridors of one of our dying North American malls, perhaps, to conceal the drop in the real estate market with so many boarded up spaces, but the White House xmas is always about group participation, with thousands of volunteers designing trees, creating the ornaments, and a professional crew putting it in place throughout the building. Mary Trump has a career/practice of her own, and has risen to the challenge of diagnosing what ails the current commander in chief. I suspect MSNBC is tempted to offer her a weekend afternoon spot, but she's probably going to be happier returning to a "normal" life, and turning up occasionally to answer Lawrence O'Donnell's questions as the Trump administration implodes. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Dave the Gnome Date: 10 Nov 20 - 04:36 AM Does anyone else get the impression that Melanie is distancing herself from the Turnip? It could be just me but her body language seems to be saying "I don't want to be near this man". If they split she could make an interesting book but I suspect there were prenuptial arrangements in place! |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 12 Nov 20 - 03:49 PM I have also wondered about that. He has no place to go but down. Maybe sticking around once he's in prison will give her access to some of the family finances. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: keberoxu Date: 27 Nov 20 - 12:59 PM Mary Trump gave an interview in the last week or so. "He's the only person I've ever met who can gaslight himself" |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: keberoxu Date: 13 Mar 21 - 03:07 PM Not sure if this thread ought to confine itself to Mary Trump's book published in 2020. Now in 2021, of course, Mary Trump continues to give opinions to the press. Business Insider |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Helen Date: 13 Mar 21 - 03:10 PM Hi keberoxu, I've just started reading her book. I'm sure it will be interesting. I've also seen a couple of her interviews. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Mar 21 - 09:40 AM I'll add this bit here since it isn't the prosecution end of things, it's the "too much" (as in, we'll again hear too much from The Donald): Donald Trump to launch his own social media site in a few months, adviser says If he manages to set up a site (that isn't platformed by Google or Amazon in the backend) it still may be blocked by Facebook and Twitter as far as sharing his remarks (is my guess). The trouble is, any time he has a platform he attracts attention and the media follow him to get the ratings. It's a truly viscous cycle. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Charmion Date: 23 Mar 21 - 10:00 AM Viscous, Stilly? Maybe; whenever I read about Mr T, I feel slimed. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: keberoxu Date: 24 Mar 21 - 09:03 PM Vicious, right? Yes, this thread is as good a place as any for that kind of link, seems to me. |
Subject: RE: BS: Too Much And Not Enough (book by Mary Trump) From: Donuel Date: 25 Mar 21 - 09:51 AM It is a crime to give water to a person in line to vote. This new proposed law is designed to obstruct black people from voting but I thought whites need water too. new republican voting laws too much! |
