I'm looking for the words to Sid Kipper's Out in the country where the moo cows poo. I have the link to him singing it on Youtube, but my ears are not what they were fifty years ago!
I've been meaning to learn the song for ages, and now I've actually moved to the country with cows for neighbours* it's high time I did.

* Literally: just the other side of the back hedge. And yes they do!

I listened through and feel confident I could probably transcribe it later today or tonight. If you have anything in the form of a start that always helps too, even if partial.

That's good of you. I managed to interpret the first line or so:
Come to the country, breathe the country air,
See the local yokels and...

I think the next bit is and the early worm too, followed by a description of its being caught by the cheeky sparrow Out in the country where the moo cows poo.
Moo cows poo! Yes they do!
Out in the country where the moo cows poo.

Here's my transcription. Look's like Sid's also got a song called "Gobblers In the Garden" -- maybe that'll be your next challenge!

MOO COWS POO

Come to the country, where the local yokels live
Smell the rustic air and the muck heaps too
See the weakly worm as the early sparrow swallows it
Out in the country where the moo cows poo

CHORUS
Moo cows poo; [ALTERNATES] yes they do
Out in the country where the moo cows poo

Come to the country, where the merry milkmaids live
See the cheeky sparrow and the sparrow hawk too
Swoop, squall, oh dear! The sparrow's not so cheeky now
Out in the country where the moo cows poo

CHORUS (just like you)

Come to the country where the jolly farmer lives
See him out a-walking with his shotgun too
Spots the handsome sparrow hawk, puts both barrels into it
Out in the country where the moo cows poo

CHORUS (on your shoe)

Come to the country, where the food you eat comes from
See the supermarket man, well-to-do
Got to the farmer, look! He's not so jolly now
His milk, he's heard, is worth no more than moo cows' poo

CHORUS (in full view)

Come to the country, where the peace and quiet is
Buy a country cottage like your friends all do
Wonder where the yokels, the milkmaids, and the farmer went
Out in the country where the moo cows poo

CHORUS (though you sue)

CHORUS (just for you)

I think cnd's transcription is very close.

My suggested corrections are in [square brackets] below, with a question mark where I'm less convinced.

Verses 2 and 3 made me think of Ralph McTell's "Bright and Beautiful Things"

MOO COWS POO

Come to the country, where the local yokels live
Smell the rustic air and the muck heaps too
See the weakly [wiggly] worm as the early sparrow swallows it
Out in the country where the moo cows poo

CHORUS
Moo cows poo; [ALTERNATES] yes they do
Out in the country where the moo cows poo

Come to the country, where the merry milkmaids live
See the cheeky sparrow and the sparrow hawk too
Swoop, squall [squawk], oh dear! The sparrow's not so cheeky now
Out in the country where the moo cows poo

CHORUS (just like you)

Come to the country where the jolly farmer lives
See him out a-walking with his shotgun too
Spots the handsome sparrow hawk, puts both [full?] barrels into it
Out in the country where the moo cows poo

CHORUS (on your shoe)

Come to the country, where the food you eat comes from
See the supermarket man, well-to-do
Got[Talk?] to the farmer, look!

Don't think I've heard that one. Typical Kipper.
