Subject: Lyr Add: a Iosa, a Iosa (Irish Gaelic hymn)
From: Felipa

I wasn't present at the time, but someone reportedly sang a song "Jesus, Jesus" in Irish Gaelic at a Mudcat singaround in June 2022. It may have been this well-known hymn

CÉAD MÍLE FÁILTE ROMHAT, a ÍOSA

Céad míle fáilte romhat, a Íosa, a Íosa
Céad míle fáilte romhat, a Íosa
Céad míle fáilte romhat a Shlánaítheoir
Céad míle míle fáilte romhat, 'Íosa, a Íosa

Glóir agus moladh duit, a Íosa, a Íosa
Glóir agus moladh duit, a Íosa
Glóir agus moladh duit, a Shlánaítheoir
Glóir, moladh agus buíochas duit, 'Íosa, a Íosa.

Translation
A hundred thousand welcomes, O Jesus, O Jesus
A hundred thousand welcomes, O Jesus
A hundred thousand welcomes, O Saviour
A hundred thousand welcomes, O Jesus, O Jesus.

Glory and praise to You, O Jesus, O Jesus
Glory and praise to You, O Jesus
Glory and praise to You, O Savior
Glory and praise and thanks to You, O Jesus, O Jesus.

No doubt you are right Felipa, but this is one that I turned up on my computer, there are another thirteen verses which makes it seem more likely as a poem than a song.

A Íosa, an éisdir mo dhán?

[McKenna, L.: Dánta do chum Aonghus Fionn Ó Dálaigh, Dublin 1919, poem 20]

Do Chríosd

1 A Íosa an éisdir mo dhán
fíoch ar do bhréithir ná bíodh
ag so an tí fa bhfuile fuar
a uan Mhuire a Rí na ríogh.

2 Maith thuillim t’fheirg is t’fhíoch
fan gceird do [chuireas] i ngnáth
is foghar leathtruim gan luach
moladh luath chleachtaim do chách.

Subject: Lyr Add: a Iosa, a Iosa Coimead na caoire

I've heard from GerryM that Vincent H. sang was a song (based on a traditional prayer) composed by Máire Ní Dhuibhir circa 1970. Here is a recording by Tim Dennehy: https://timdennehy.bandcamp.com/track/a-osa-a-osa

words at http://www.cumannnasagart.ie/iomainn-le-clement-mac/a-iosa-a-iosa-coimead-na.html

A ÍOSA, A ÍOSA COIMEÁD NA CAOIRE

A Íosa, a Íosa, coimeád na caoire
ar na gleannta míne 's ar na móinéir chaoine.

'Nach bhfánfaidh sibh liom?' deir an Tiarna linn.
'Scaoiligí bhur gcros uaibh, Suaimhneas tabharfad díobh.'

'Is beannaithe an té a chreideann,' deir an Tiarna linn.
'Feicfidh sibh an lá seo mé in aoibhneas pharthais.'

'Is sibhse clann an tsolais,' deir an Tiarna linn.
'Sínigí dá chéile mo shaibhreas is mo mhaoin.'

'Sé mo chéad achainí,' deir an Tiarna linn.
'Scaipigí an buan ghrá im' ainm de shíor.'

A Íosa, a Íosa, Fanfaimid go fóillín
Fanfaimid le haoibhneas
‘S le grá go deo dhuit.

                         [Máire Ní Dhuibhir]

translation
Jesus, Jesus, guard Thy sheep
in gentle valleys, meadows mild.

"Won't you stay with me," said the Lord to us
"Let go your crosses, I will give you peace of mind"

"Blessed is the person who believes," the Lord said to us
"You will see me this day in the bliss of paradise."

"You are the children of light," said the Lord to us,
"Share with each other my riches and my gifts"

"It's my first request," said the Lord to us
"[that you] Perpetually spread the eternal love in my name"

"oh, Jesus, we will wait. We will wait for you forever with pleasure and with love."

A Íosa, a Íosa, coimeád na caoire
ar na gleannta míne agus ar na móinéir chaoine.
Ní tinneas chun báis ach tinneas chun sláinte
a bheith tinn le grá duit, a Rí na páirte.

Translation
Jesus, Jesus, guard Thy sheep
in gentle valleys, meadows mild.
Not sick to death but sick to life
sick with Thy love, O cherished King

Here are the notes that Vincent H. posted in the chat during the June 13 Singaround:
The title of the song translated into English is “Jesus Jesus” the chorus loosely translated reads “Jesus ,Jesus, Keep the sheep in the fair glens and on the pleasant mountain grass” This chorus is a traditional prayer that the people of Rinn in Co. Waterford had about 1947 (may be for many years before that)The stanzas and the melody were composed by Máire Ní Dhuibhir (Mary Dwyer) about the late 1970’s
