There's a CD of Route 66 songs compiled by a David Sanger. CDNOW has it. It is: Various Artists 'The Songs of Route 66' Lazy S.O.B. SOB66. However, they are mostly recently written songs, including an excellent one sung by Alan Rhody and written by Alan Rhody and Kevin Welch: 'The Mother Road'.

Stewie.

Woody Guthrie's "Hard Traveling" has a verse that refers to "hitchin' old 66."

The late singer-songwriter, John Stewart, had a modern day album that chronicalled Route 66 called "Rough Sketches". It had some really good Americana images of the Mother Road. An internet search should show where it can be purchased. Hope this helps.
