I'm looking for a copy of Michael Smith's 2012 album, "Old Man Dancing." With all the resources of the Internet, there's not a lot of joy for music from a truly great songwriter who is not in favor. The thought of his music disappearing just makes me feel old and passé. I would appreciate any leads to point me to anyone who might have a copy of the CD for sale, or any way to hear it.

It's always a problem finding material by Michael Smith because there just too darn many Michael Smiths, and the mothers are more popular than he was. He eventually started going by Michael Peter Smith, but that didn't help much.

His Website is still up, but it is no longer marketing this album.

Yes, I know. I did my due diligence before I thought to come here. I've emailed the only contact I could find at his website, but haven't heard back.

Silly me, I simply assumed that, because of the Long Tail, that his music would of course, be available on Spotify, or Apple Music, etc. But no. And, as you found out, the big streamers aren't very good at differentiating between similar names.

I had a wonderful friend and musician, Steve White, whose music has never been separable from similarly named artists.

Don't give up, Paul. When somebody starts a thread at Mudcat, we encourage people to post full information about the subject, not to just answer a specific question. It keeps the thread alive, and it gives an opportunity for discussion without adding to the huge number of threads.
And you'll notice that I crosslinked to all the Michael Smith threads we have.
