Hey, my Sing Out! didn't arrive until today. I have to say I was duly impressed to see that Faith put TWO Mudcatter songs in her column. Steve Suffet is relatively new here, but if you click on his name, you can see he's made a significant contribution to the information posted at the 'Cat. His song in Sing Out! is an inspiring variation of "Wasn't That a Time."

Thanks Brett. I feel like crap today, but I'm glad I went. Sometimes they have accompanied me - usually on acapella songs. ;-) I know more than 3 songs, but either they're not suitable for a session or I'm in danger of killing them with over-singing. Maybe I ought to start a thread asking for suggestions...

You are right, Jeri, it was a good session. Too bad you had to leave early. And about your comment last night that you only know three songs. You are hereby assigned a task to learn a fourth song for next session! And another song for the next session etc. Now, I don't make it every Friday so you can cheat and only learn a song for those sessions that I will attend but you'll never know which ones those are will you? Thus, you'll have to keep learning. *BG*

For those 'catters who don't know, Jeri has a strong clear voice that is just right for unaccompanied singing. We need to help her learn more songs and even find someone to play along with her so we can hear what she sounds like with an accompanist. I believe she'll be great there too. Any volunteers?

JERI! Congratulations! I opened my copy of Sing Out! and there was this great song. I read through it and laughed and admired it and completely missed the name of the author! Charlie mentioned it was yours when he called me earlier. DOH!

Well, I finally have my fifteen minutes of fame. MaryMac reported last night on Mudcat Radio that the song is in the current issue of SingOut!

Interesting - someone on a newsgroup I read pointed out that the tune to Kilkelly (at least I may be spelling it right now!) is virtually the same as Old Maui, done in 3/4 time.

I gave it to Faith for Sing Out, Ray, and shipped it to both you and Kay, I thought, back in March. Kay liked it but said that the tune was not familiar enough, so we needed to run it too. One of you said that we probably couldn't get permission to run the tune to Killkelly. Does any of this sound familiar?
What's the name of that herb that helps with memory?
I think Jeri's parody would be great on the song pages.

Jeri. Great parody! I've recorded Kilkelly, and sing it in shows, and I'd love to start doing this one. I do parodies of Country Roads, and the Streets of London, and as I get older I find myself losing track of whether I'm singing the original or the parody, and once or twice I've jumped back and forth between them until the "Huh?" from the audience brought me back to where I was supposed to be.
