Subject: Johnny Collins: Info Please From: Doctor John Date: 24 Apr 00 - 10:03 AM Could someone give me some information about Johnny Collins and his song group. I bought an excellent CD of sea shanties for £5 but no notes whatsoever. Incidentally there was a French edition of the same recording for £14 so watch out! The notes were probably in French so of little use to me. Dr John |

Subject: RE: Johnny Collins: Info Please From: Nerd Date: 08 Jul 01 - 01:58 PM Just read the living tradition article, and wanted to add that the "forthcoming" CD compilation from Fellside came out in 1998. It contains old ballads and songs, and only a few maritime pieces. It's an excellent value and great if you love traditional material done well. Steve |
Subject: RE: Johnny Collins: Info Please From: Roger in Sheffield Date: 08 Jul 01 - 03:28 PM sorry Winick for the out of date article I just brought this thread back while looking for details for another thread that JC might be able to help with. The other thread linked above has a website with current and earlier recordings. Also on this thread at the linked website I think I saw a JC CD and three tapes for twenty pounds in the special offers section. |
