Subject: Land of Hope and Glory From: GUEST,Banjo Johnny Date: 23 Jun 00 - 11:59 PM For those who remember the previous eponymous thread ... I went to St. Louis to sing "Land of Hope and Glory" (lyrics provided by Mudcat Cafe) and a couple of other tunes for the wedding ceremony of a Missouri woman and an Englishman. What a disaster! The bride was an hour and a half late. The bride. It seems her son by a previous marriage tried to sabotage the wedding. By the time she arrived, a lot of the unbounded joy of the occasion had fizzled out. The church had a funeral scheduled for later, so they cut my act, and also a string trio that had come from Joplin. At least they had a chance to play while waiting for the bride. Oh well, that's show business! == Johnny in Oklahoma City |

Never mind - you've got a song in your repertoire now you wouldn't have otherwise; and you've a story that would make a good song (maybe a Talking Blues breaking into a variation on Land of Hope and Glory...)
