Subject: That Dirty Little Coward! From: Rick Fielding Date: 30 Jun 00 - 11:38 AM "Now Jesse had a wife to mourn for his life, three children they were brave. But that dirty little coward who shot Mr. Howard, has laid SOMEONE ELSE in his grave." I Knew it! They just dug up Jesse James' grave, and guess what? It probably ain't him! There have actually been a few who claimed to be the "real" Jesse, including one J. Frank Dalton, who died in the fifties, and had a pretty convincing story. At least the folks through the first half of the twentieth century who claimed to be the "non-murdered" Jesse, didn't affect cowboy outfits, complete with six-guns....unlike the constantly sighted "alive" Elvis, who still apparently wears white jump suits while shopping at Walmart. I think it's time for the relatives of Robert Ford (the original "dirty little coward") to hand back that reward money. Rick |

Quick, Marthy the smelling salts, mah heart cain't
Where did you read/hear/dream that? Curious minds... |

Subject: RE: That Dirty Little Coward! From: Naemanson Date: 30 Jun 00 - 12:08 PM How much was the reward? Maybe Jesse and Robert Ford split it and got rid of a common enemy? Nah, people couldn't be so... Never mind. |

Subject: RE: That Dirty Little Coward! From: Rick Fielding Date: 30 Jun 00 - 12:20 PM Glad you asked Bert! Hmmm, let's see.... "Jessie James was a man, who decided to retire. And he knew the law would never leave him be. So he faked his own death, and left the old wild weatht and when people said "where's Jesse".........said "beat's me." "He put away his six guns, his cowboy hat and boots, and opened up a wee cross-dresser's shop. and the townsfolk all knew Jesse, as "the lady known as Toots" and in his yard he grew a marihuana crop. CHORUS "Oh Jesse was a wife, who went and changed his life, but he couldn't have no children strong and brave. He looked like Leslie Howard, and talked just like Noel Coward and no one ever saw him feeling grave." Sorry Bert....it's early. Rick |

Subject: RE: That Dirty Little Coward! From: SINSULL Date: 30 Jun 00 - 12:59 PM Wait a minute Rick. I sat through an hour of nonsense about two weeks ago to find out that DNA testing proves that Jesse is in fact in his grave. They took blood samples from two men who were directly related to an aunt of Jesse's. Their DNA and DNA from the exhumed body matched 99.9%. I am going to hate myself for asking this but "Who cares?" After all: "Jesse robbed from the poor and gave to the rich He never did a friendly thing And when his best friend died He was right there by her side And he lifted off her golden wedding ring..." |

Subject: RE: That Dirty Little Coward! From: GUEST,Mrr Date: 30 Jun 00 - 05:20 PM Let me get this straight - they dug up the wrong guy and the DNA didn't match, or they dug up the wrong guy and therefore didn't check the DNA, or have they now dug up the right guy and the DNA matches? My head is spinning as if my nexk were a double helix... Shall have to cruise the Net and see what I can come up with elsewhere, *sigh*... |

Subject: RE: That Dirty Little Coward! From: Giac Date: 30 Jun 00 - 07:18 PM Oh, now it's getting too complicated. Besides, I'm still LMAO over "left the old wild weatht." That's great! |

Subject: RE: That Dirty Little Coward! From: Jeri Date: 01 Jul 00 - 01:26 PM So anyway, it looks like they went digging for Frank Dalton and found Holland - Henry Holland. I assume Jesse's still buried somewhere.
He was J. Frank D unless he really was Jesse |

Subject: RE: That Dirty Little Coward! From: Rick Fielding Date: 01 Jul 00 - 01:39 PM Now Jessie's DNA was a match for ol' O J Likewise the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Did Elvis meet his end, where are Roswell's little men? Of conspiracies I'll surely never tire.

Subject: RE: That Dirty Little Coward! From: DougR Date: 01 Jul 00 - 08:56 PM I thought they just made a mistake and dug up the wrong guy. The last I heard they were trying to get a court order to open up the grave of the guy who said he was Jessie. They didn't mention what the guys weilding the shovels were drinking when they dug up the wrong guy, and the relatives of that guy are yet to be heard from. DougR |

Subject: RE: That Dirty Little Coward! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 02 Jul 00 - 03:37 PM Hey that's nothing - they dug up a famous female saint from her tomb in a famous cathedral city in the UK and found that a) it was too young a corpse (not been dead long enough), b) it wasn't the right tomb (not been there long enough and c) it wasn't the right gender! - somehow a 5'6" 10th Century man ended up where an 8th Century 4' woman should be! Subject: RE: That Dirty Little Coward! From: Irish sergeant Date: 02 Jul 00 - 06:21 PM Hi All: I don't know who they dug up but the J. Frank Dalton claim pops up every so often. Fact is, Ole Jesse shot off one of his fingers while cleaning an "unloaded" pistol during the latter days of the Civil War. HIs comment was and this is a direct quote, "Isn't that the dingus-dangest thing?" His brother and the other members of Quantrell's Raiders gave him the nick name of "Dingus because of it. J. Frank Dalton (What ever his real name is) had the missing digit when "interviewed" and vouched for by would be outlaw Al Jennings in the 1950s. MOther and wife both swore that Jesse was indeed murdered as officially stated by Bob Ford. Indded, it was Jesse's murtder that induced Frank James to turn his guns over to Governor Crittenden of Missouri. Though there maybe something to Jesse not being interred where he is said to be, it may be a case of the family moving his body to protect it from souvenier hunters. J. Frank Dalton was not Jesse James. He might however have been Judge Crater. Hmmm bears watching. Neil |

Subject: RE: That Dirty Little Coward! From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Jul 00 - 03:41 PM Intrigue for all. The world can get completely wrapped up in ol' Jesse and my own state will not admit, while they are buried under a mountain of overwhelming evidence, that Sam Sheppard did NOT murder his wife Marilyn. No confusion as to bodies or DNA, just embarassment over being completely moronic. (If you're trapped in a lie, keep on lying) Spaw |
