CowMan.....Here's my favorite, from "Foggy Mountain Jamboree" Don't know author(s)........Tiger

Some Old Day - As performed by Flatt and Scruggs

I've been workin' out in the rain,
Tied to a dirty old ball and chain.
Oh, dear mother, I'll come home, some old day.
Some sweet day, they'll turn me loose
From this dirty old callaboose.
Oh, dear mother, I'll come home, some old day.

    CHORUS
Some old day, you'll wait for me and pray,
Oh, dear mother, I'll come home, some old day.
Some sweet day they'll turn me loose
    From this dirty old callaboose.
Oh, dear mother, I'll come home, some old day.

Oh, dear mother, I've hurt you so.
I've been cruel to you I know.
Oh, dear mother, I'll come home, some old day.
Tell my brother, my sister and dad,
They're the best friends that I've had.
Oh, dear mother, I'll come home, some old day.

    CHORUS

If that's your style, your second choice must be "Blue Rifge Cabin Home".....Tiger

I couldn't call myself a true fan but I do have a CD I think is worth having - "Flatt & Scruggs (The Golden Era) Rounder CD SS 05/A 22614. It is a compilation of 15 of their songs from 1950-55. I'd have to say my two favorites from it happen to be gospel songs, "I'm Working on a Road (To Glory Land) and "Brother I'm Getting Ready to Go." There's not a cut on the CD that I dislike.

'long with Earl Scruggs' pickin, and their harmonies (yes, Jon, the gospel tunes are great!) I always got a kick out of their humourous songs--they parodied Johnny Cash, and their parody of "Sink the Bismarck"
