Subject: killin floor-coolin board From: LR Mole Date: 04 Oct 00 - 11:46 AM "Killin' floor" by Electric Flag is called for the slaughterhouse surface, according to one citation in here. "Mobile Line", done by Ian Buchanan and scads of others, refers to his deceased amour "Layin on the coolin' board".Is this just approximate prounciation, or are they in fact two different things? Anyone know? |
Subject: RE: killin floor-coolin board From: MarkS Date: 04 Oct 00 - 11:56 AM Coolin Board was, I think, a surface on which the deceased was placed when funerals were conducted in the home rather than in a mortuary. It would be set up between chairs or some other set of props so visitors could gather and view the deceased prior to burial. MarkS |
