Subject: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Max Date: 17 Oct 00 - 05:46 PM The fine folks downstairs at the pub downstairs have allowed us to take over for an evening. Next weeks radio show will be live from Iron Hill Brewery here in Mudcatville (West Chester, PA). That is, Tuesday, October 24. Its gonna be more like a concert than a radio show I suppose. Performers include Bert, Dick Greenhaus, Pete Peterson, Dick Swain, and me as well as perhaps a couple of special guests. We got the whole place wired (actually it's a wireless setup) to feed audio and video out to the world, just as Mudcat Radio is. It's a big deal for the future of live Mudcat events, so tell anyone and everyone you know within 100 miles of West Chester to show up. Those who can't make it, tune in. More later… |

Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: wysiwyg Date: 17 Oct 00 - 08:34 PM Will there be a terminal set up so patrons can see the Cat for themselves? And so you can pull up songs you are doing on the DT, for a singalong? Thinking of doing it that way here sometime. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Bugsy Date: 17 Oct 00 - 09:47 PM Wish I wasn't half a world away or I'd be there! Good Luck Baldy |

Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Catrin Date: 18 Oct 00 - 06:19 AM Can't be with you in person Max, but I'll be there in Spirit! Good luck with the show - if it's even half as good as our do in the Red Lion (Llanfair), you are guaranteed a great time! Cheers, Catrin |

Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Max Tone Date: 18 Oct 00 - 04:08 PM It's my birthday on the 24th, so I'll definitely be there in spirit- or should it be the other way round? (Tobermory single malt). Good luck. Rob |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: annamill Date: 18 Oct 00 - 04:37 PM Max, I wish you had changed the night to Friday or Saturday. I have to get up at 4:30 AM during the week and it makes it impossible to come out there. Boo! That would be such fun!! Love, Annamill |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: catspaw49 Date: 18 Oct 00 - 04:43 PM Well see anna dear, they actually try to get a crowd on Friday and Saturday and folk ain't exactly a big draw. Now if they draw a crowd of folky/bluesy nuts on Tuesday, it beats hell out of the 3 people that normally show up. All kiddin' aside........Kill 'em Max!!! Spaw |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: bflat Date: 18 Oct 00 - 04:54 PM Please post the exact address for the gig. After checking Maps.com, I may be able to make the drive. I'd love to meet you folks. Got some things to work out but would give it a try. Thanks in advance. bflat |

Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Jim Krause Date: 19 Oct 00 - 12:17 PM Man, I just gotta upgrade. Sounds great! |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: bflat Date: 19 Oct 00 - 04:19 PM Bert--thanks for the link to a map. It would be about 144 miles one way and unfortunately, I can't stay overnight as I am due back to my business. But, that is closing in a few more weeks so if this occurs again, I'll just have to make a mini vacation and see things for myself. Nice link! bflat |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Big Mick Date: 20 Oct 00 - 12:25 AM So............Max and Bert..............got room for one more 'Catter on the playbill? I think I will hang out for a day, sleep in the car and come to the gig. Would love to sing a song or two for you. Waddya say? Mick |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Bert Date: 20 Oct 00 - 12:15 PM I'd say "See ya there Mick, there's room for ya" |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: BlueJay Date: 20 Oct 00 - 01:22 PM Is it very far from La Veta, Colorado? |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Bert Date: 20 Oct 00 - 01:37 PM about a 30 hour drive |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: BlueJay Date: 20 Oct 00 - 02:16 PM Bert- Thanks. I thought so. I was hoping the time zones might help: you know, leave here at 6 pm, drive like hell, and be back at work before the show started, our time. :) Oh, well. Thanks, BlueJay |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Max Date: 23 Oct 00 - 12:51 PM Here is the newspaper article that went into our county newspaper. |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: catspaw49 Date: 23 Oct 00 - 01:05 PM That's good story Max but I must say that the picture of Bert's eyeball is NOT a highlight!!! Hopefully we pick up a few at the bar for the show because of it. Poor hesperis seems to have become "Orillia" but outside of that, its a fine job........well, except for Bert's eyeball. Spaw |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Bert Date: 23 Oct 00 - 01:27 PM Hi Spaw, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that that picture is awful. The photograher stuck the camera right in my face and I gave her a real funny look. Of course THAT'S the one they print. Bert. |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: GUEST,Roger the skiffler Date: 24 Oct 00 - 03:54 AM ...shoulda worn the yashmak, Bert, Effendi! Great publicity, guys. RtS |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: GUEST,Pete Peterson at work Date: 24 Oct 00 - 09:14 AM Oh this is going to be fun tonight! Instruments are in the car (anxd the car is locked!) and I will remember that I am singing into a microphone & not blow my voice out trying to fill the room. I have taken the liberty of inviting an autoharp-playing friend from Harrisburg so we can do Carter Family songs in harmony; hope this is OK. Very flattering article; hope they like it as much after it happens! see you tonight PETE |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Oct 00 - 09:35 AM Pete, I will, as always be tuned in, but I am now really looking forward to your Carter duets! Great selections (for me anyway). Bert....I KNOW exactly what you mean. I think the photo guys are always looking for these "perspective" shots and sometimes they come out with some really stupid stuff. A few years ago Karen and I, and our "family" were the subject of a newspaper feature on adoptive/foster families. Now since its an agency policy to not photograph foster kids in temporary care (privacy issues), the photographer went for one of those shots from behind with the kids playing a video game. So there are 8 of us in this photo and the doofus wants some faces yet we're all crammed around a TV set...........Ya' gotta' see it.......one of the WORST photos I have ever seen.......and it was on the front page. Spaw |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: GUEST,Pete peterson Date: 24 Oct 00 - 12:16 PM Hi "Spaw! Now that i know you're going to be listening I'll try to do a couple of Civil War songs. BTW does anybody know the old time tune Coleman's March? turns out to be Bonnie Blue Flag, slowed down and into 4/4 time. I'm looking forward to this, but I am repeating myself |

Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Bert Date: 24 Oct 00 - 07:11 PM Max is kinda busy. I think the machines are already dedicated to tonights show, but I'll ask him. |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Oct 00 - 07:15 PM Ah....didn't realize..........I got a nice shot of I think YOU walking past the camera.......Is it still upstairs? Spaw |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Lonesome EJ Date: 24 Oct 00 - 07:24 PM Bert,I like the photo.Makes you look a bit like John Mayall's bellicose younger brother. |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Áine Date: 24 Oct 00 - 07:47 PM So, when does the fun start and where's the dang link? -- Áine (back online after a week with NO MUDCAT and needing a great big fix of Mudcat Radio!! ;-)) |

Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Áine Date: 24 Oct 00 - 08:07 PM Thanks Bert! Now I can stop chewing my nails and pacing the floor -- I now know when to pop the top on that cold Guinness I've got waiting in the fridge, too! ;-) Lookin' forward to it, Áine |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: GUEST,mousethief (at the library) Date: 24 Oct 00 - 08:07 PM Cold Guiness? Isn't that an oxymoron?
Sorry for the thread creep, |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: Áine Date: 24 Oct 00 - 08:17 PM Alex, my darlin', we're talking about a fridge in Texas, for mercy's sake -- how 'cold' could it be? Besides, I've had colder pints in Donegal -- and they were served at room temperature (brrrrrrrr)! ;-) But, you're absolutely right about the 'oxymoron' -- you'll definitely turn into one if you have too many (hahahaha)... -- Áine |
Subject: RE: First Official Mudcat Gig From: momnopp Date: 24 Oct 00 - 08:54 PM Way to go, Max! The article is fairly accurate and gets the gist - great picture of Bert's hairdo. . . Love you guys, JudyO |
