A light hearted ditty written by Loudan Wainwright about just that, a dead skunk in the middle of the road. I heard it back in the 70's. Now, mission is to find the words and music (if possible). Thanking you all in advance, blessed be

I know this one! I have a halfway decent recording of it somewhere... Parts of it from memory:

DEAD SKUNK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD

Crossin' the highway late last night
It shoulda looked left and it shoulda looked right
It didn't see the station wagon car
The skunk got squashed, and, there you are,

CHORUS: You got yer dead skunk in the middle of the road
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
Stinkin' to high heaven

(Something...) that ain't no rose
Roll up yer window and hold yer nose!
You don't have to look, and you don't have to see
'Cause you can feel it in your olfactory. CHORUS

I think there's at least one other verse, which I can't
think of right at the moment.

Cathy

Yahoo, a start. I would like to hear the recording. If you trust us, E-mail an address and I'll send a blank tape. If that is not possible, then no problem. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the words. Perry Wray aka PWRAY@AOL.COM

Perry,

Cathy did an pretty good job, and yes there is one more verse. It goes something like this.

You got your dead rabbits and your dead racoons the blood and the guts are gonna make you swoon (I can't remember if there are any more words)

hope this helps. keep stinkin'!
