Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Internationale - various languag From: Jack Campin Date: 12 Oct 08 - 07:30 PM I was once at a public meeting in Edinburgh organized by the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran. They finished by getting us all to sing the Internationale in whatever language we knew it in, all together. It ended up as Farsi-only since virtually none of the Scottish audience (me included) knew more than one verse. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Internationale - various languag From: Susanne (skw) Date: 12 Oct 08 - 03:34 PM Sang it in English and German last Thursday - Alistair Hulett was here. He must be the only one who still includes it in his sets! Great night, though the poor guy was not so much singing as croaking due to a throat infection. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Internationale - various languag From: Haruo Date: 16 Feb 02 - 08:06 PM Okay, I've posted the two Esperanto versions I'm aware of here. Also the thematically related Polish revolutionary song called, I believe, Whirlwinds of Danger in English. Would like to find the Polish text. Liland |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Internationale - various languag From: Haruo Date: 25 May 01 - 11:15 PM Well, the Esperanto version linked to at the site cited is not the traditional one. I guess I'll have to add L'Internacio to my song collection (the traditional version is in the Japanese collection De Kant' al Kanto 2 from TEKo, and I reprinted it a few years ago in my Donu Hejmon al mi... published for the Washington State Historical Museum on the occasion of an exhibit on communes and collectives).
