Subject: Funeral Song From: GUEST Date: 22 Dec 00 - 07:08 PM Does anyone have a suggestion for a song to sing at a funeral for a long time history buff? His widow has requested something western, not too depressing.Big Rock Candy Mountain or Red Sails in the Sunset were two that she mentioned. |
Subject: RE: Help: Funeral Song From: katlaughing Date: 22 Dec 00 - 07:18 PM Happy Trails comes to mind. Also Desert Silvery Blue is really nice. If you go to the DigiTrad search box up above and type in the words cowboy and western, then hit GO, you will find many songs come up which you could look through. Good luck, kat |
Subject: RE: Help: Funeral Song From: Sorcha Date: 22 Dec 00 - 08:23 PM Last "Western" Christian funeral we did used "Wings of a Dove". Like the Happy Trails idea, too, but some denomonations require that the song be "religious........." |

Subject: RE: Help: Funeral Song From: GUEST,Bristol Ted Date: 23 Dec 00 - 05:30 PM Believe it or not, my mother in law has requested "Wish Me Luck as You Wave Me Goodbye". She is now 90 and still going very strong! |
Subject: RE: Help: Funeral Song From: Uncle Jaque Date: 23 Dec 00 - 09:19 PM Lots of "Funeral" music in the collection, but not much "Western" - oodles of "Nautical". Apparantly in the 1840s even "Protestant" traditions used the "Chant" quite a bit, many of which were for funerals - including one I've been working on "Calm on the Bosom of Thy God" which shows potential - but probably not what you're looking for. May the Spirit lead to one which is appropriate and effective. |
