Clinton Hammond,

If you don't like the rules then go away, start your own web site and make your own rules. It's a real simple solution. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand it.

CH, you belong below the BS line. There is absolutely nothing that is BS about showing appreciation for all that Max does...especially putting up with people like you who argue about everything, including where to honor the owner of the site.

Thank you Max for taking this on, keeping it going, and being able to shrug off gratuitous criticism. If we each one of us did half as much as you are doing to make the world a friendlier, better, place, this would be a lot more comfortable planet.

MudCat Maxie

Tune: Fishin'

Well, let me tell you people 'bout a place I stay
On the WWW line.
There's a gent out there from old P.A.
Built a site that's awful fine.
Now old Maxie Spiegel said, "Ya gotta know,
I'm gonna build me a place for the Folkies to go."
MudCat town is the place to go,
Thanks to Mister Spiegel
He even made it legal!
Maxie Spiegel's Mudcat show!

Baby if its blues that are on your mind
MudCat is the thing for you!
Just browse on over to the Mudcat sign
And find yourself a clicky blue.
You can pull up blues 'til the cows come home
And run down the threads til your blues are gone

MudCat town is the place to go,
Thanks to Mister Spiegel
He even made it legal!
Maxie Spiegel's Mudcat show!

If you wanna know the story of the farmer's wife
Or the chords to "Buddy Have You Got a Dime?"
Just come on down, and you bet your life,
You'll get you an answer in record time.
No use moaning, or feelin' blue,
Baby, you can be a folkie too!

MudCat town is the place to go,
Thanks to Mister Spiegel
He even made it legal!
Maxie Spiegel's Mudcat show!

We got a frozen folkie from the icey North
Mister Skarpi from Reykjavik town
And Andre from the far Argentine
Where the gauchos lay their music down
We've got folkies from Pamplona, and from Bayou Blue,
Wales and Paris, and Dublin too!

Mudcat town is the place to go,
Thanks to Mister Spiegel,
He even keeps it legal!
Maxie Spiegel's Mudcat town!

There's the pride of the beavers, the Canuck Kid,
And his students playing bluegrass trills
We've got cowgirls from Wyoming and from Ozland too,
With knickers that just won't stand still!
We've got whalers and sailors from the coast of Maine,
Even got a Cajun gal from Pont-Chartrain,

Mudcat town is the place to go,
Thanks to Mister Spiegel,
He even keeps it legal!
Maxie Spiegel's Mudcat town!

As someone who has always had to endure that "look" people give me when I express my love for traditional music, I am adding my appreciation for Max and the 'Cat for giving me this place and the people who come here. I don't post much but I lurk A LOT and I have learnt more in the past few months than I dreamed was out there.

Nuff said.

To thee, Oh Blessed Max, we have recourse in our tribulations.
And while imploring the aid of thy most holy Mudcat,
we confidently invoke thy patronage also.
By that love, which united thee to the Immaculate virgin mother of Shorty,
and by the fatherly affection of which thou didst embrace the infant Loki.
We humbly beseech thee, graciously, to regard the inheritence which Gargoyle purchased by his blood.
And to help us in our necessity by thy powerful intervention.
Protector, most provident guardian of the Holy Family; the chosen children of Mudcatland.
Ward off from us, Oh most loving father
All taint of err and corruption.
Graciously assist us from Philly; Oh, most powerful protector,
In our struggles with the powers of Darkness.
And as thou didst one rescue the child moon from imminent peril to her life,
so now defend our Holy Web Site from the snares of thine enemy, and from all adversity. Shield each one of us with thy powerful intercession, and that by shining in your example,
we may be able to live a good life, die a holy death, and secure everlasting happiness in that big recycle bin in cyberspace.

Amen

It has been my great joy and surprise to find so many wonderful people at the Mudcat for whom I feel strong feelings of attachment and fondness.....I will NOT allow a few mad individuals to spoil my new friendships, or my delight at learning new things from new people. with love and gratitude Terri xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Max-

I really hope you read this. I've posted it to your "thought for the day thread" in case you miss it here.

This is how you contribute to my happiness:

I have a ruptured disk in my neck that presses on my spinal cord and causes all kinds of physical problems for me.

Consequently, I am not able to get out and be among people anywhere near as much a I would like.

You have brought a whole world of (mostly) like-minded people to me, and for that I am grateful.

Very, very, sincerely, Carol

I've said many times that I've become a Mudcat fan(atic) and, once again, THANKS!!!

I would like to add my curses to all of these superlative congratulations.

It's seven in the morning and I am on the 'Cat when there is much else to be done. I find it hard not to log on every morning to "'Cat"ch up. And then, I'm on again in the evening.

Will I ever stop? Who created such a monster that can suck you in? All of these songs? All the sly humor (except for Art)!

I am sure this is a plot to program a large group that will do Max's wishes whenever they hear the correct words to some obscure celtic tune.

Seriously, I have only a vague idea of how much work goes into this forum, but it surely must be a large amount. I, too, appreciate Max, et al's work. I miss the 'Cat dearly when she's down.
