Subject: Sorcha Dorcha Benefit
From: GUEST,Celtles@altavista.com
Date: 20 May 01 - 10:33 AM

For those of you looking for something great to do today, come see THE SORCHA BALLAD AND CEILI BAND at O'Lunny's Times Square. This great great band will be performing at a Commemorative Event for the 10 Irish Hunger Strikers who were left to die in the North of Ireland in 1981. O'Lunny's is located at 151 West 46th Street right off of Broadway....It will be a great event! There will be a showing of the documentary "The Black and The Green". Michaela McCafferty, niece of hungerstriker Patsy O'Hara will be on hand to speak about her experiences and to sing a song or two. COME ONE COME ALL!!!!! It's a good cause and Sorcha Dorcha will kick ass!!!

No kidding Dan: I went to hear Sorcha Dorcha yesterday on 46th street. I have been to a lot of political fundraisers and heard some good music, but Sorcha Dorcha was better than any of them. They reminded me of hearing the Bothy Band live. Bill Bell is one of the best guitar players in any Irish band, and the three vocalists were tremendous. - Omar

Mary,

You didn't come to the Sunnyside Song Circle, either. We're taking a break until September. For June, however, we will meet at the Songs of the Spirit workshop at the Clearwater Hudson River Revival. That will be at 11 AM on Sunday, 6/17/01, at the Circle of Song area, Croton Point Park, Croton-on-Hudson, New York.

Thanks, Steve. I am sorry I missed it. And Inobu. At times, life just gets too hectic. Every weekend in June is booked and I haven't seen my father in months.

Subject: The Not-So-Odd Couple
From: Suffet
Date: 05 Dec 03 - 01:18 PM

Appearing at the Peoples' Voice Cafe in New York City...

The Not-So-Odd Couple

LYDIA ADAMS DAVIS
Singer-Songwriter

and

STEVE SUFFET
Old-Fashioned Folksinger

Saturday • January 17, 2004 • 8:00 PM

Said he: "I received your cassette tape Monday and I have been enjoying it since."

Said she: "Glad you like the tape. ... Take away the lush instrumentation, somewhat busy arrangements and country songs on my album and you will see our sensibilities are not that different."

Said he: "Our musical sensibilities may be similar, but you have a much nicer voice."

Said she: "Thanks. I hear a Woody G. quality to your voice which I like very much."

Said he: "For too many years I was a Woody wannabe, musically, that is, and I'm afraid it still shows. Please kick me hard if I start spouting Okie aphorisms!"

Could this be the beginning of a beautiful musical friendship? Or is it just witty banter? Come see how this drama plays out and help Lydia and Steve prove to the house that, yes, they can fill seats on a dark and cold winter night.

Peoples' Voice Cafe
at the Workmen's Circle
45 East 33rd Street
Just west of Park Avenue
Midtown Manhattan, New York

General admission: $10.
PVC or WC member: $7.
Seniors, on strike, or up against the machine: $5.
TDF vouchers accepted.

Even at the top admission, it's still a cheap night out in the Big Apple.

Delicious and reasonably healthy snacks will be available at ridiculously low prices.

Take note: Steve will be accompanied by unindicted coconspirators from the MacDougal Street Rent Party and from the Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash. Please feel free to sing along, unless he tells you otherwise, which he will very rarely, if ever, do. Kazoos, spoons, jugs, and Jew's harps are welcome, provided you really know how to play them.

Larry,

The person to contact about getting a gig at the Peoples' Voice Cafe is Moreen Gail Ivice. Use this link to her e-mail address:

ivymermaid@aol.com

The wait might be a year or more, or you might luck out and she will find something for you this spring.

Good luck.

By the way, the 2004 PMN Winter Gathering is in Lawrence, MA, the weekend after this coming one, i.e. January 23 to 25. Any chance that you will be there?
