Sorry for not getting back to this until now, but I've been helping a few mates get their computer sorted out and wired up to the sound system in their pub for the old mp3s, and I've been away for the Easter.

But if anyone's still interested, I'll try and get around to it this week, and post the score on the website.

B.

I use a Bm in the last line on the word "Life" (which I have always heard as "love"). Try it; you might like it. (Once is experimentation, twice is perversion).

Looks like another job for me - hot on the heels of the Arthur McBride project.

What is it now?, Tuesday? If there's no tab at John's site, I'll try and get around to tabbing it myself around the weekend, and post it up on my website.

Tuning is DADGBE

Bugsy, have you tried John Martyn's website? I get it by just putting in johnmartyn.com it comes up as johnmartyn central. There's a links page with guitar info on everything he's recorded. However, I can never access the information from that guitar site. Maybe you'll have better luck.

No worries, I'll just have to battle along somehow. Thanks for the effort anyway Stewie. Actually sas Lizard and Mobie at the Roy Bailey Concert the other week. Also saw Lizard at Gluepots party on Saturday. Will pass on your regards at the first opportunity.

Cheers

Bugsy

Here you go Bugsy. Give my regards to Lizard and Moby if you run into them.

MAY YOU NEVER
(John Martyn)

May you never lay your head down
Without a hand to hold
May you never make your bed up
In the cold

You've been just like a good and close mother to me
And you know I love you like I should
You never talk about me behind my back
And I know that there's times you could

Please won't you, please won't you
Bear it in mind
Life is a lesson to learn in our time
Won't you please, won't you please
Bear it in mind for me

May you never lay your head down
Without a hand to hold
May you never make your bed up
In the cold

You've been just like a good and close brother to me
And you know I love you like I should
You've got no knife to stab me in the back
And I know that there's those that would

Please won't you, please won't you
Bear it in mind
Life is a lesson to learn in our time
Won't you please, won't you please
Bear it in mind for me

May you never lay your head down
Without a hand to hold
May you never make your bed up
In the cold

May you never lose your temper
If you get in a bar-room fight
May you never lose your woman
Overnight

Cheers, Stewie.

Bugsy,

I believe there was a thread about this very topic a week or so ago. I know that John Martyn plays the song in D in dropped D tuning (having seen him do it once), not sure of the chord progression. It was originally on his album Solid Air.

Can anyone help me with the chords to this John Martyn song, Lyrics begin:

May you never lay your head down
Without a hand to hold
May you never make your bed out in the cold.
May you never lose your temper
When you get in a drunken fight
May you never lose your lover overnight......

Easy Blues and May You Never use standard tuning with dropped D (6th sting dropped to D). from:
http://www.verkens.demon.nl/fuq.htm

Chords used to be at OLGA, but it looks like they are gone now.
