Subject: Computer Driving games From: GUEST,Ed Date: 06 Apr 01 - 04:53 PM My girlfriend's son has a birthday next week, and I want to buy him a driving game for the PC. He already has Colin McRae 2, and probably prefers 'fun' games over the 'simulations' such as Grand Prix 3. I've heard some good reports about Nascar 4, but some bad ones too. I've done a good deal of reading on the web but get conflicting answers. Anyone here who knows about these things that can offer advice? I think gameplay is more important than realism here. Many thanks Ed |

Subject: RE: BS: Computer Driving games From: Helen Date: 07 Apr 01 - 12:34 AM I just asked the "expert". My hubby says Midtwon Madness is fun. Driving through city streets - normal driving skill stuff, but you also get to have fun with pedestrians - cartoon sort of fun, not blood-&-guts variety. He also likes Need For Speed - there are a few sequels to this as well. And he mentioned Carmageddon, but I think this is for younger kids. He went all-out and bought a force-feedback steering wheel. In Need For Speed you can feel the bumps in the road through the steering wheel and also if you do damage to the car the effects of the damage are translated into how it would actually feel holding the wheel. This was a fairly expensive purchase, but it adds another dimension to the game. Helen |

Subject: Computer Driving games From: Clinton Hammond Date: 07 Apr 01 - 12:16 PM Caramgeddon is NOT for young kids!!! It's a brutal violent gory game... I love it.. a fantastic game to play when ya come home loaded!!! And I've been playing it since it came out in 97! IF you do go thte Caramgeddon rout, stick with the original and the add on called The Splat Pack... the sequels were pretty garbage... |
