Subject: Pilgrim's way From: Tattie Bogle Date: 16 May 01 - 07:08 PM Anyone got the words for song whose verses or chorus end with "on their pilgrimage to Canterbury along the Pilgrim's Way" (repeated)? Would be most grateful if so. Tattie B |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Pilgrim's way From: GUEST,Willa Date: 21 May 01 - 06:15 PM I have this somewhere; searched last night but couldn't find it. I think it was written by Huw Williams for a TV series. Will have another look/listen and see if I can track it down. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Pilgrim's way From: Murray MacLeod Date: 21 May 01 - 06:31 PM The Albion Band recorded this. It is one of these lovely songs which is too short, needs another couple of verses IMHO. I used to drive along this self-same Pilgrims Way on the Sussex/Kent border every day many years ago. Tattie Bogle, if you don't have any luck with the lyrics, PM me and I will give you the phone no. of a lady who will provide them. (I used to accompany her on guitar for this song) Murray |
Subject: ADD: Along the Pilgrim's Way (Huw Williams) From: GUEST,Willa Date: 22 May 01 - 10:25 AM Found it! It was on an Albion band recording. ALONG THE PILGRIM'S WAY (Huw Williams) The pilgrim's heart is lifted up, as he spurs his horse along. He will contemplate his destiny, and pass the time in song. And it's many the long and winding path he has travelled on this day, On his pilgrimage to Canterbury along the pilgrim's way. On his pilgrimage to Canterbury along the pilgrim's way He has quenched his thirst at the Tabard Inn and blessed his journey's start, And showers sweet have bathed his feet, likewise refreshed his heart. And there's many a bend at journey's end he'll be glad to greet this day, On his pilgrimage to Canterbury along the pilgrim's way. On his pilgrimage to Canterbury along the pilgrim's way The motorcycle comes to rest and the rider wipes his brow. He will photograph the land around, for the fields are golden now. Still lovely is this part of Kent, on a hot midsummer's day, And he'll think about the ones who went along the pilgrim's way. And he'll think about the ones who went along the pilgrim's way. |
