I think that the world really needs a song about "Marketing " The "Marketer, right from the start, tries to mislead the public. Such as, $9.99 (instead of 10.00) buy one get one free, plus shipping and handling $4.99. Comes to a total of $15.00 (minus two cents) for two, actually, $7.50 for one. And, how can you trust a guy who, right from the start, is trying to mislead you?

I've been after this one for quite some time. I may be on to something if I can adapt, "The Rigs of the Time".

every verse ends with, "Honesty's all out of fashion, these are the Riggs of the Time, Time, These are the riggs of the time." This is in the digitrad, might give sopmeone an idea for a song. I get madder and madder every time one of these damned commercials come on television./ I'm so angry, now, it has inhibited my writing ability.

The practice of pricing an item at $/£ X.99 was thought to be a means of forcing the shop assistant/sales clerk to use the till/cash register (aka London slang ( not Politically corrct) the "Jewish Piano".)

Not that this bit of information has anything to do with the basic Song Challenge, but might give an inspiration to any song writer ! - Well just a thought.

I have also read somewhere (not sure how accurate this is) that people are in fact more likely to buy something if it ends in 99 or 95, even if it's a dollar more expensive than what they could buy it for elsewhere. The marketers do it because that's what people buy.
