Subject: RE: Carly and Lucy Simon - 'The Simon Sisters' From: Joe Offer Date: 29 Mar 07 - 03:17 AM Here's the track listing for the other Kapp album, Cuddlebug (Kapp KL-1397 Mono Kapp KS-3397 Stereo). Looks like the new CD covers all the tracks from both Kapp albums.
There were two Columbia albums, The Simon Sisters Sing The Lobster Quadrille And Other Songs For Children and The Simon Sisters Sing for Children - both have the same tracks. I understand "Sing for Children" is a remix of "Quadrille." So, I sure hope that Columbia album comes out. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: Carly and Lucy Simon - 'The Simon Sisters' From: Joe Offer Date: 27 Mar 07 - 07:02 PM As you can see from my 1998 post above, I've wanted a Lucy and Carly Simon CD for what is now a long, long time. Well, I got my wish - Winkin', Blinkin' and Nod: The Kapp Recordings just came out. It's very good, but I have to say it's not what I expected. The fabled Simon Sisters album is a collection of children's songs. I heard a poor-quality tape of it, and it was wonderful. Anybody know anything about the album I'm still seeking? Here's the track listing for the new CD: 1. So Glad I'm Here 2. Breton Lullaby 3. Delia 4. Will You Go Laddie Go 5. Chicken Road 6. Once I Had a True Love 7. Wind Spiritual 8. Winkin', Blinkin' and Nod 9. À la Claire Fontaine 10. Rise Up 11. Lorca Lullaby 12. Waley, Waley (The Water Is Wide) 13. Sano Duso 14. Cuddlebug 15. If You Go Down to the Water 16. Dink's Blues 17. Turn, Turn, Turn 18. Hold Back the Branches 19. Écoute Dans le Vent [Blowin' in the Wind] 20. Motherless Child 21. No One to Talk My Troubles To 22. My Fisherman, My Laddie O! 23. Feuilles-Oh (Leaves) 24. If I Had a Ribbon Bow 25. Pale Horse and Rider |

Subject: RE: Carly and Lucy Simon From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Jan 98 - 04:39 PM I've been looking for the Lucy and Carly album for a long time, too. Somebody sent me a poor-quality tape of it and now I can't find it. It really was good, though. As I recall, it was traditional children's songs and some of Lucy's musical settings of children't poems ("Owl and the Pussycat" was on it, I think). Didn't Lucy do the music for the Broadway musical, "The Secret Garden"? Hanrahan, how much of the Sesame Street album is Lucy and Carly, and how much by other artists? -Joe Offer, in a beautiful pea-green boat- |

Subject: RE: Carly and Lucy Simon From: Charlie Baum Date: 23 Jan 98 - 01:19 AM I have a vague recollection of seeing this recording as a CD in my local Tower Records (or was in Borders?) a month or two ago--but I'm not sure if it was the Lucy & Carly Simon recording itself or just the cut "Wynken Blynken & Nod" by them excerpted and pastiched on an anthology CD... I tried to do a search of on-line commercial CD sellers earlier tonight and got nowhere...but maybe if you or someone else searches more persistently... --Charlie Baum |
Subject: Carly and Lucy Simon From: Jason Date: 22 Jan 98 - 06:13 PM When I was a little boy, my mom had a children's album entitled "Lucy and Carly Simon sing songs for Children." My mom no longer has the record and I have tried to find it in music stores, special ordering, record shops, ect. Does anyone know how I could get hold of a copy. I would prefer CD but beggers can't be choosers and I don't know if it was ever released on CD. Thanks... Jason
