I'll sing the French songs from Maggie's scary book if you send me the words, Les... :0)

I'll pick you both up from a handy station, if you don't get a lift.

If anyone could give us a lift from Hull, or some place with a railway station, and if someone could point out a place where we could stay Maggie and I would like to come.

And if someone could sing our songs for us while we're there...

Liz, I booked flights for Friday morning and Monday evening (flight LH4794, arriving Stansted at 7:25 and flight LH4705 leaving Stansted at 19:10)

I guess you don't want to come to Stansted that early, so if you PM me your address I will make my way to you (depending on the time you want to start I can throw in a bit of London sightseeing as well). I thoughtlessly deleted your PM from about a month ago.

Same goes for Monday, I think I will catch the train back to Stansted from London.

Yes, Mrs Duck, the Welshpool and Llanfair light railway have spaces for caravans again this year. And a campsite for very intrepid 'catters.

Andy - I'm taking the Friday and Monday off too, so it's best to use those days. The drive from here to Wales is about 4-5 hours, we will stop for T & P on the way.

Tell me your flights when you get them and we can go from there.

Monday afternoon is definately best, and it gives you the morning to sample our delightful London air (or go to Saffron Walden, which is nicer)!!

Liz, no we didn't finalize as I was not sure about coming before my bicycle trip. But thanks for picking me up! I am really looking forward to it (not only to Llanstock, but also to meeting you)!

For when should I book the flights? Friday morning to Stansted I guess - I can also take the train to London if that makes things easier for you. Return flight from Stansted to Munich on Sunday evening or Monday afternoon? (Depends on when Llanstock ends and when you are heading back to London - I got the Monday off after some discussions with my boss).

By gum, things are hotting up!!! The trailer, I think, holds 8 normal people, so that makes 23 mudcatters..............!!!!!! Julia (Pippins) is recovering from eye surgery, and is therefore not her usual organised self. There is accommodation in other places, and I am hoping to get finalisation of camping space tomorrow. All We need now is a bar. And I'm on to that as well. According to this thread, there's Eric, Alan, Noreen, Skip, Bill and Sam in the trailer so far. That should leave room for Mudguard, provided he doesnt plan to sleep at all!!! If sleep is necessary, there are spare beds being offered by friends.
Any more questions?
Cheers, Bron.

Re: Pippins - I called them this afternoon, and although she has booked all the rooms in readiness for the weekend, she (sorry her name escapes me) she needs confirmation as to who is staying where, so give them a ring, you may be lucky and not get the room with Micca!

Hi all, any chance of me being "trailer trash" this year as Red Lion not doing B&B and Pippins starting to sound full up.

Please if I stay, keep me safe from skip as I wouldn't want the sheep to get jealous.

Andy, let us know how and what arrangements are being made for your arrival airport and arrival time. So the whole of the UK can be on standby to pick you up etc. I look to be having a problem getting transport myself this year as kids need car early on Sunday morning and saturday afternoon.

Cheers

Ok, I just got permission from my boss to come, so I will come.

Bron, I would need about 1m by 2.2m (3'3" by 7'3") of floor space to sleep on - I can bring sleeping bag and camping mattress. If you could organise that for me, Bron, I'd be very grateful! I'd also need some help in getting there - can somebody pick me up at an airport and drop me there on the return? Birmingham is the closest, but London Stansted (cheapest flights land there), Manchester is also possible. Of course I will pay part of gasoline/petrol or whatever your car needs.

Bar should be finalised tomorrow, also potential campsite. Don't forget that B&B in the town is scarce, but there are people happy for mudcatters to use their spare bedrooms. Contact me if you need accommodation.

On the other hand they might like to read a story book, but then they'd miss out on a bloody excellent meeting/gathering, the first and foremost Mudcat gathering, which spawned all others including the Mudcat germany trip and the mudcat europeon gathering 2001.

You'd be better to read the threads people and see what you have missed and might be able to get to this year!

Cheers

The first thread about Llanstock 2001 can be found by clicking here (messages=99).

For those who don't know, The first UK Mudcat weekend gathering took place this time last year in Llanfair Caereinion, 10 miles west of Welshpool, North Powys, Wales. Whilst Bron (Llanfair) was planning and coordinating the event, it took on a life of its own, and a relation suggested that it was Llanfair's own version of Woodstock, hence Llanstock.

Llanstock Mk 1 was more successful than I think anyone could have imagined, and many great friendships were made which have continued and developed over further mudcat gatherings since, drawing more mudcat friends in along the way.

Mudcat history buffs might like to re-read the original threads where the idea of a 3D mudcat UK gathering was first hesitantly suggested...
UK Mudcatters, Autumn weekend?
UK Gathering II
UK gathering 3
through to it taking place, Countdown to Llanstock
and the aftermath... Post-Llanstock

Hmm, you're one to talk, Eric!!!
October 12th, 13th and 14th are the dates, and the venue is Llanfair Caereinion, which is about 10 miles west of Welshpool, North Powys. Everyone is welcome, it's accommodation that can be tricky. The railway haven't got back to me yet, but I'm hoping they are going to allow camping on their bit of grass. The train will be running that weekend, so people can do the trip if they want to. Costs about £15 return to Welshpool.
All we need now is a bar, and we've cracked it!!
I've been told that there have been bookings at Pippins already. If anyone needs phone numbers for B&B, let me know, because some that advertise as being in Llanfair are a few miles out, and those few miles can be critical if everyone has been drinking.
WARNING there is NO public transport in the area, unless you count the bws post.
Cheers, Bron.
