Subject: Matt Hyland Guitar Tablature? From: Straford Date: 21 Feb 02 - 10:42 PM Does anyone have a guitar arrangement (tablature) for the Matt Hyland song that they would like to give me. It's an excellent song. Thanks, Straford |

Subject: Chords Add: MATT HYLAND From: Hilary Date: 22 Feb 02 - 06:21 PM Hi Straford, How about ... There(A7) was(D) a lord..who(G) lived in the town(D)... Who(G) had a lovely(D) handsome daugh(A7)ter(D) She was courted by a fair(G) young man(D) Who(G) was servant(D) to her fa(A)ther(D) But when(D*) her parents .... came to know(A) .... (A7) They swore(D) they'd ban him from(G) the is(A)land(D) But the maid she knew .. that her heart(G) would break(D) Had(G) she to part(D) from young Matt Hy(A)land(D) D* means 'officially' should be Bm, which I'm still not very good at playing - and this is one of the times it seems fine to use D. BTW, Do you sing the verse about him getting his pay ??? Hope it's of use, Hilary

Subject: RE: Matt Hyland Guitar Tablature? From: GUEST,mollificent Date: 23 Feb 02 - 01:22 AM Yet another song Kate Rusby has hopelessly confused me with...:) I heard her altered melody version first, then heard the original (from my beloved Andy M. Stewart) and now I have two versions spinning in my head. And just like she did with "Stretched On Your Grave," she altered this one just enough that it might almost be a harmony line. Stop confusing me, you lovely Yorkshire lass you! Arrrgh... M |
Subject: RE: Matt Hyland Guitar Tablature? From: Straford Date: 11 Mar 02 - 11:07 PM Thanks Hilary for putting those chords together, Sorry it took me so long to reply. The Andy Stewart version is excellent. What does he have in there? Organ, 2 guitar parts, fiddle, bass, and it still sounds really simple and not at all over-arranged. I would use the verse with the pay if I were to sing it. Straford |
Subject: Matt Hyland tablature From: GUEST,crawfishcity Date: 07 May 05 - 12:40 AM I'd love to be able to learn this song, as played by John Doyle (I think) accompanying Kate Rusby. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Subject: RE: Matt Hyland tablature From: Peace Date: 07 May 05 - 01:27 AM The trad melody is in the DT. I am not familiar with Rusby's version. I understand she sings the same lyrics but uses a different melody. Check back when the UKers are up and happening. Perhaps someone there could post a verse with the chords or the tabs. Luck to you, cfc. |
