Subject: 'The Friendly Giant' theme... From: Clinton Hammond Date: 08 Apr 02 - 03:37 PM Come all you Canucks! Step up and help out a poor boy... The first 2 or three notes of this song have been haunting me of late, and if I don't get the rest of the tune out of my head and into some instrument (recorder would be too predictable??) I just might go postal! I'll even settle for a midi if I have to... Sheet music would be cool too! Anyone? Rick? ;-) |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: 'The Friendly Giant' theme... From: Hollowfox Date: 08 Apr 02 - 04:12 PM http://www.tvparty.com/lostgiant.html (from a google search) says that the tune is Early One Morning, a 16th century English song. That sounds about right to me (it was shown in the USA as well). The song is also known as How Could You Use A Poor Maidem So, which probably accounts for them not using the lyrics. I couldn't find it in DT under either title, but I only took a fast glance. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: 'The Friendly Giant' theme... From: Clinton Hammond Date: 08 Apr 02 - 04:23 PM The liner notes to Stephen Fearings CD "Industrial Lullaby" call it "Robert's Waterloo"... that's becasue Bob was TFG's real name... but where does the "Waterloo" come in?? I'm still trying to find a copy of the tune for download... ;-) |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: 'The Friendly Giant' theme... From: GUEST,Cheryl Date: 08 Apr 02 - 04:27 PM Yep, it is Early One Morning... Early one morning before the sun had risen I heard a bluebird in a field gaily sing Soft winds are blowing Green grass is growing What a .... forget after that ... spring. Considering I'm going back some forty years to recall those lyrics -- I didn't even know I remembered them until I started typing. I know, no chords, no sheet music, just a Detroiter who got CBC out of Windsor and LOVED the giant! |
