Thanks to every one who attended the session on Monday, I'm sorry I couldn't make it. As there seems to be lots of support, the session will be happening from now on every Monday. This session is friendly, diverse and welcomes singers, but is not a sing/play around with an organiser. After some feedback from the participants it would be helpful if people could arrive a bit earlier say 8:30, as some players (including myself) have to get home on public transport and would miss a lot of the fun. All the best PP.

In future could you please put "Manchester, UK" in the title of your threads about the 'Jolly Anchor'

Even mentioning the apporoximate geographic location in your message would be something.

This is a worldwide forum after all...

Or we could just all turn up at our respective Jolly Anglers - that could be fun! Then report back as to whether we find any other 'cats there.

There's a really nice pub in Reading called "The Jolly Anglers" it's by the canal.

Not much folk music there, mind

Nuts. I was hoping that Jolly Angler place was in Topeka, KS in the Good Ol' U.S. of A.

In future could you please put "Manchester, UK" in the title of your threads about the 'Jolly Anchor'

As far as I could see there was no mention of any location in the title or the thread? Why assume it is the Jolly Anchor in Manchester, UK, when as far as I know there is not a pub by that name hereabouts!

and then

And bang goes my theory that it was just Americans who displayed this kind of ignorance

followed with

What should we mistake it for? Ineptitude?

Oh dear...

I'll tell you what. I'll keep going to the Jolly Angler. If I do find myself in the Jolly Wanker I might tread in something nasty.

Don't bother replying dear troll. We have deigned to feed you a little. Don't expect a feast.

Or the Jolly Wangler for that matter. Which reminds me of this Ramblin' Sid Rumpo song:

As I was going to goosenaggers fair,
Singin', Singin', Loomers on me posset,
I met a maiden trundlin' a bare,
Folderee, folderee
Her bogles were blue, they jangled about
'till the grunge on my cord-wangle nearly fell out,
Singin', Singin', nagger Julie Felix
Singin',Singin' riddle Simon Dee

Kind sir prey woggle my gimp if you can,
Singin', Singin' loomers on me posset
For you I can see my free scopin' man
Folderee, folderee,
So I woggled her gimp till her welkin rang
And as I woggled this tune I sang,
(It's a good trick if you can do it)
Hairy fairy, Peter, Paul and Mary,
Hairy Fairy, wurdle Simon Dee.

Jeff - that's my Jolly Angler too.
And just along from there is The Fisherman's Cottage - where there is a song/tunes session - which I think is on the last tuesday of the month.
Here is a link to a website about folkie stuff around Reading UK. link to Reading stuff

Thanks for the support chaps. I really didn't intend this to offend anyone, I thought that as there had been recent related threads giving the location of the Angler people would not need reminding. When I first suggested a Mudcat get together I used the phrase "Manchester UK". There are quite a lot of threads about events in America which do not locate them selves. All the best PP.
