Subject: RE: Stompin' Tom: Folk, Country, or what??? From: steve t Date: 07 May 98 - 01:05 PM Some of his stuff is folk. Some of his stuff is country. Heck, even a few of Stan Rogers' songs sound country to me. So, to classify a few songs: Bud the Spud is folk and country. Margo's got the Cargo is folk and country. Big Joe Muckerraw is folk.......and country. Hmmm... is there a pattern here? |
Subject: Stompin' Tom: Folk, Country, or what??? From: Ireland O'Reilly Date: 07 May 98 - 10:07 AM Hi. Dr. Stompin' Tom Connors, as you know, is more than a singer. He is a Canadian Cultural icon. However, some of his stuff is unclassifiable in any particular genre. In which genre would you place Stompin' Tom? Just thought I'd try to get up a discussion on this... Any of Tom's fans out there? |
