I've often joked that two of the songs that I want sung at my funeral will be: "I'll never get out of this world alive" and "I'll fly away." Any other suggestions? Its probably the only time that people will feel obligated to endure my choices in music!!!!

'There'll be a hot time in the old town tonight' and 'i'll be glad when you're dead, you rascal, you'. My instructions for my funeral are: no services, no meetings, no speaches, etc' Inter urines et fecies nasciemur. And vice versa.

John Prine's song, perhaps it's called "Please don't bury me", the one that ends "and give my love to Rose".

I should like a non-religious celebration with poetry readings, and lots of singing and music. I've already instructed my family that I want Blowing in the Wind to be sung by everyone.

At a friend's funeral, the curtains closed, the coffin rolled, the mourners stood to depart, and the sound system gave forth "You'll be going your way, I'll be going my way..." Bless you Hughie!
