Subject: BS: Bad Day fro Big Oil From: Bobert Date: 19 Nov 02 - 07:24 PM So today the oil freighter, "Prestige", owned by, ahhhhhh, ahhhhh, who the Hell knows who sank off the coast of Spain with a bunch of Russian oil on board and it looks like its gonna be a purdy bad mess to clean up and gonna kill lots and lots of fish and water foul. Well, I called my old buddy from my college days, Spiro Oilbux, and asked him if he was worried about anything and he said, "Heck, yes, Bobert, that's a lot of oil to loose!" "Well, Spi, how about the cost to the envirmonment?" I asked to which he snapped back: "Ya seen on sea gull and ya seen 'em all!!!" Hmmmmmmm? Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Day fro Big Oil From: DougR Date: 19 Nov 02 - 07:30 PM Bobert: it appears to me you didn't do an adequate job of educating your old college buddy, Spiro. Maybe you need to spend more time with him now that he is all growed up and show him the right and the wrong of it! Terrible tragedy, though, that leaking tanker. Worse than the Valdez it's been reported. DougR |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Day for Big Oil From: Merritt Date: 21 Nov 02 - 12:45 PM Responding to criticisms that they were treating the accident more like a public relations problem than an environmental disaster, Universal Maritime spokeswoman, Kay Lastima, pointed out that their recovery program was running like a well-oiled sand piper. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Day for Big Oil From: kendall Date: 21 Nov 02 - 12:56 PM Seems to me that if we spill enough oil into the oceans, time will come when that water can't evaporate. Major drought? |

Subject: RE: BS: Bad Day for Big Oil From: Barry Finn Date: 21 Nov 02 - 06:42 PM I'd say that depending on how one views this disaster that you might consider the oil companies, that have a disregard for all peoples that depend on earth in order to survive, as terrorists & any goverment that had a hand in allowing this tragedy or any other like it to happen might also be labled as a hostle nation & that they are a danger to the entire world population. Therefore they should have all their assets frozen in order to cover all the costs of bringing the environment back to it's original state prior to this ANYTHING BUT AN ACCIDENT. If this cannot be accomplished or there is a refusal on their part to meet these demands they then should have, under threat of a military invasion, be brought to their knee's & have all their own natural resources put into the recieveship of those more capable of managing them.
