Subject: Lyr Req: Rectangular From: GUEST,Treesha Date: 12 Jan 03 - 10:51 AM Does any one knw lrics for comedy song often heard in folk clubs in 60's/70's? Some of it goes like this Triangular is the garment thin, That fastens on with a safety pin, A prize I had no wish to win, a lasting memory, My true love gave to me. Rectangular is the woodern box, Where lies my love 'neath the hollyhocks, They say he died of chickenpox..... or something like that. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Rectangular From: Charley Noble Date: 12 Jan 03 - 10:59 AM Yes, those fragments are familar. If no one else posts the lyrics, assuming they are not already in the DT, I'll ask my friend Eli for them. Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Rectangular From: Snuffy Date: 12 Jan 03 - 11:50 AM You're quoting bits of the 4th & 3rd verses (the order is Round, Square, Rectangular, Triangular). It is in the DT as "The Shape of My Love", but it's also sometimes called "The Shape of Things". I learned it from a Kingston Trio recording, but there are several others. WassaiL! V I think I'll close off this thread because the title is misleading. Please continue the discussion in the thead called Ballad of the Shape of Things. Thanks. -Joe Offer- |
