Well I am soo sorry to have missed out. After spending a very very long day at a very very poorly organized festival (they tried hard, though) standing in the rain, for most it ... I just didn't have it in me to make the drive. We'd have been late too. I guess it just wasn't in the cards this time.

I should have canned the festival and just opted for the Kendall concert!

BTW one of OA&T's songs was Henry Lawson's "The Outside Track." It was fantastic. Have heard them sing it before and always liked it but I thought this time was tops.

Oh yeah, it was a real nice evening. The two songs that Kendall did sing were both terrific and his stories were so well done, the audience just loved them. And Mary, George and Kathy sound so good together, there's a synergy that works terrifically well.

Well, if I'd known he was going to be THAT funny I'd have brought pencil and paper. Susette and I agreed to steal several jokes and when we got home we couldn't remember anything except the "I can tell you it needs ironing" punch line. Fortunately we bought two CDs and we spent 'Satidy' nite laughing at Maniacs. Well, he didn't hardly stink at all. In fact he was pretty damn funny and sang some good songs. "Good though". All seriousness aside, as Steve Allen used to say, it was a good night and we are looking forward to more of same.

We just arrived in Portland. Many thanks to the Patons, Bob and Jennifer and Kathy Westra for warm beds, great food, and greater company. I am beat. 2400 miles with the Captain either driving himself or driving for me. "This is too fast for conditions"; "If I were driving I would be in the right lane(5 Miles before the exit)". But he crapped out in Mass. and I drove the rest of the way MY WAY.

We had fun and actually enjoyed each other's company. Straws at five paces will become a tradition, I expect.

Kendall's voice is still in recovery mode limiting him to two songs. But his quick wit and amazing memory are intact. The audience laughed AND bought his book, CDs and tape. Well done, sir.

SINS, promoted from groupie to roadie and loving it.

It was a good time, although Kendall is still favoring his voice and asked some fine local folks to help out..(and made half the requests! *grin*)...so KathWestra and LaMarca, and her husband George, singing in their incarnation as "Oak & Ash & Thorn" did a couple of short sets to let Kendall rest his voice...but he did sing a couple of wonderful songs and told the usual outrageous lies umm..amazing stories of Maine and it's denizens (human & otherwise)...

Everyone was smiling, when they were not laughing out loud, so we are glad he made the trip....but it WAS a wet drive home in this incessant rain we are having lately. Hope everyone is dry.

I was busy having fun at a gathering of my son, Dylan's elementary school "reunion" ("class of 2000") and forgot to check which venue Kendall's concert was going to be at -- and I went to the wrong place!
